Never tried to quit, so never had any withdrawals.
I quit a few years ago. I was never a coffee drinker but was having a Coke every day. There was a "no sugar challenge" at work and it seemed like a good time to try to quit, and indeed I got a lot of support from the others.
As noted, drink a lot of water and try to get to bed early so that you don't get too many headaches. The interesting thing is how long it takes to get it all out of your system; about two weeks after my last Coke I started getting a runny nose, which is apparently a possible side effect. I was amazed at how long it took to manifest (but it cleared up after a few days).
My first cup of coffee in the morning is non-negotiable. That is an absolute must.
The caffeine is bad, it could cause psychological issues.
What was the motivation for wanting to quit?Well, somewhat sad to say I "relapsed" tonight. Drank my usual all in one go. At yeah it's pretty late so I wont' be sleeping anytime soon. Oh well. I guess there's always tomorrow...
This is my 7th day too. Just couldn't take it anymore.

Cocaine really takes the edge off.
I haven't had a soda in over six years. After about year two or three, can't remember which, I tried a sip of a Dr. Pepper and Mountain Dew. The sheer amount of chemicals I tasted was enough for me to never go back. Coffee and tea on the other hand is a different story. I am very snooty when it comes to my coffee as well as my tea. Both can have caffeine in them, but that is not why I drink them. I love the taste and flavors. I drink both hot and cold, but after about 1100 am, it is only tea for me.
Soda and power/energy drinks are no go for me. I drank a few way back when and I never got into them. So I haven't had one since about the time I quite soda's.
I used to be a HEAVY diet pepsi drinker growing up. Loved the taste - mostly because my grandparents drank Pepsi and I associated that with vacations to my grandparent's house. (That and the smell of cigarette smoke - love it, because I associated it with childhood vacations). Stopped drinking soda 7+ years ago. Ice Tea (unflavored) or water. Can't even stand the taste of soda anymore.
Kinda awkward to ask for: "Ice Tea, no ice, unsweetened please!" lol.
Same - love the taste of unsweetened tea and black coffee.
Still a fan of cigarette smoke tho.(I don't smoke myself).
Speaking of being snooty and coffee...... Peruvian coffee beans ... roasted with a Behmor 1600 roaster... some of the best coffee I've ever had. https://happymugcoffee.com/green-offerings-coffee/814-organic-peru.html
Moreso when you have children.Perfectly stated.

Try them flat. You won't believe how sickly sweet sodas are until they're flat.
What exactly is your usual? Plain black coffee or something like a brown butter gingersnap cookie with whipped cream and caramel drizzle?
Tea is your methadone. Gradually decreasing the strength. You won’t get the headache.I've been drinking a lot of coffee for many years. I've severely cut it down, and it's my 5th day.
Having a very hard time.
This.Drink green/herbal tea instead.
Thank you for the tea suggestion but it upsets my stomach.
Are you supposed to drink it black or with milk?
I’ve always done milk and sugar.
Maybe black won’t affect my stomach.
Some teas, (white tea, green tea for example) do not require the addition of milk at all; some may taste better with a little honey, but that is a personal subjective thing.
However, if you drink good quality tea, you may not need to add milk.
Idea!
I might do SWEET tea. The stuff you get at Walmart. Everybody loves sweet tea am I right or am I right? Lol
Now I’m actually excited.
But I’ll just get some next time I’m in the store. Im in no rush to quit coffee after what I’ve been through for the last week.
That was horrible. Now is not the time after that. It was truly like a nightmare in hindsight.
I still can’t believe that something so simple as giving up coffee had such an impact on me
This.
Tea, green or black, contains small amounts of caffeine (and more), and prevents most - if not all - withdrawal issues when quitting coffee.
Just be a bit careful if you go for herbal tea because there are some types that aren't actually tea, and they may not contain that precious caffeine...
My favourite is pu'er tea (Chinese fermented green tea), but that's an acquired taste.
(PS! At the moment I'm deep in a coffee phase, but I've been thinking about switching back to tea lately, so maybe this is the nudge I needed...)
I'd been drinking 8-10 cups of strong double espresso for decades.
Some years ago I had to quit. First replaced by Coke, then by strong black tea.
I still miss caffeine especially in the morning and after lunch. And it will remain so.
The smell of fresh coffee...
