The old Black MacBook was often dubbed as "BlackBook". Has "GlassBook" been accepted as slang for the new MacBook or is it more of an "unwanted" word like iTouch?

I've also heard "AlumiBook" but I don't like that one.

What do you call the new MacBook?

The LackBook (or LacBook)

Lack of Firewire

Lack of matte screen option

The subtitle is "The Great Mistake of 2008"

Personally I look at people who call it a GlassBook as if they are retarded, because that's how it sounds.

Seriously, get over it.

SITUATION!!!

Let's say I post a thread saying I have a problem, say, installing a hard drive in my Macbook.

How easy is it for someone to help me just given that information?

Now let's say I have a problem installing a hard drive in my Glassbook.

Suddenly they know EXACTLY what model I'm talking about.

If I say Glassbook, you know what I'm talking about, which means it has served its purpose.

try telling tech support you need help with your glassbook and see what they say. i bet they'll understand aluminum macbook better than glassbook

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

We call them "panda book" in China for their black and white style.

Is the "Do you call it GlassBook? threads" becoming the new "When are the MacBooks coming out? threads" ?? ... Well seems like it.

p.s I do like the name "GlassBook"

I think I do as well. I thought it was stupid at first, but it gets the job done better than saying, "My new aluminum macbook."

I should also add that I personally call my glassbook, "Sylvia" and as I said earlier, she's dead sexy!

By definition, I doubt that any slang can be official.

I prefer calling it what it is -- a MacBook. That's what it says on my MacBook. It doesn't say GlassBook, AlumiBook, or anything else.

Personally I look at people who call it a GlassBook as if they are retarded, because that's how it sounds.

Stupid if you ask me...
I mean it doesnt really classify the product does it? like BlackBook did!

For now, MacBook or MB is great.....

ScamBook

Seriously... no FireWire, no real price drop?

"Has "GlassBook" become the official slang for the new MacBook?"

I don't like the "cutesy" names people feel the need to use.

It is a MacBook.

You all were repressed as children weren't you?

Before buying a new machine in the future, perhaps you should invest in either a sense of humor or perspective. It is a fun name, USED IN A MAC FORUM, to describe a particular product. I like it personally. I bet you guys are the ones calling the iPod touch the iTouch, thinking that you are clever.

I'm so pissed at the lack of firewire and matte display option I call them either Switcherbook or Bimbobook.

MacBook Pro -1
MacBook Sans Fire
SmashBook (lets face it, the screen WILL break)
StaticBook
ScratchBook
iShouldn'tHaveWaitedBecauseINeededFireWireBook

...

Actually I like AlumBook, as somebody else suggested.

Otherwise, its one of the above.

I am so glad I have my BlackBook :)

if we want to be scientific

MBAl (symbol for Aluminum)

or maybe

MBSiO2 (formula for glass) :p

I seriously don't care

dont mind Glassbook or MBAl

Sylvia? Well, I named my Maia. And yes, I agree with you, Dead Sexy is also another name like GlassBook.
