yep i rebooted after carrier settings had been installed (many times appearntly itunes kept prompting me to install them over and over again)

i did a DFU restore and the icon is there now, I'm rather annoyed that i had to do that but that seems like it was the only option.

Did you lose all your settings and messages? How do you do that?

yes i lost all texts setteings etc.... its setting it up as a brand new phone and not a backup the backup is what is more then likely causing the problem.

me neither.. was your phone jailbroken?

yes it was but as i said before i ereased all settings not just network settings, so i figured that my backup would be clean, but i was wrong I guess.
