As with most on this thread, I am anxiously awaiting my new MBP. I ordered standard shipping and am destined for chicago. Since my last update, I have made it to out of CHN and am now in Anchorage. Looks like I've cleared customs and am hopefully in-flight to the continental U.S. Anyone know which flight I might be on? Estimated Delivery is april 23 by 4:30pm.

I mean...what are the chances that this will actually get here tomorrow as it says?!?

From Alaska to Houston in 19 hours? And I'm assuming it'll be going to Kentucky or Memphis first...right? And then has it even cleared customs?! :(

So even though FedEx claims "On Schedule"...how reliable is this in the final 24 hours?

I'm worried because I'm leaving to go out of town for 10 days on the 21rst!!!! It NEEDS to get here by then!

It could have easily left Shanghai on Apr 20, not even just Anchorage, and made it to you fine. Alaska to Houston in 19 hours is more then plenty of time. For example, for my package to go from wheels-up in Shanghai to landing in Boston (5 miles from me), it took just under 19 hours! (With a 3 hour stop in Memphis.) So it's safe to say that ANC-IAH can be covered in far less than that. :)

Just like everyone else, losing some sleep as to when my new mbp pro will get here. Hope mine is on this flight http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX86 might get to me by tomorrow, est delivery is on 4/22 by 4:30. :D

Haha, I love that FlightAware tracking site. I guess my MBP is on FDX94, along with a thousand other MBPs. :D

For those like me in the Montreal, CA region who are impatiently waiting for their MBP to arrive, here's something to cheer you up:

Hopefully, this is the last flight remaining before my package gets loaded in one of their ugly brown trucks and delivered to my home :).

Yes, easy. The flight is FDX94 and it lands in Memphis slightly after midnight. FlightAware shows that it just crossed the Canadian border, so it's just a few minutes late. At Memphis it will spend about 3+ hours in sorting and then fly out around 5a to get to Houston around 7a.

looks like mine will arrive this afternoon:)

Delivered!!!! One day early! Unfortunately it came after I had already left for school so I went all day without it. But I have spent the past couple of hours screwing around with it and it is awesome. I love the HI RES Glossy screen. The bottom of the laptop is not hot at all (although I will say that I am mostly surfing the web or doing other light computing) and the fans are very quite. This is my first mac and I am already in love!

Ordered a 13" MPB on the 13th. Yesterday I had an ETA for the 21st. Today, the ETA is not shown anymore. Doesn't look too promising that I'll get it tomorrow... I'm in Toronto, Canada.

I HATE FedEx

Ok, so apparently you can't get a delivery in Anchorage ahead of schedule. They wont even take the package out of the tote until the morning of delivery. So those of you who got your MBP a day early count your blessings that your FedEx facility cares about customer service.

I live in the Anchorge, Alaska area. My MBP has a "By Noon Delivery for Wednesday April 21st".

0348 MBP arrives from China to ANC
Shortly there after it goes to customs
0845 I arrive at FedEx facility to be told that I can have it after customs clears it if I change the request for customer pickup. They call you when it's available.
1143 cleared from customs.
1539 scanned as "in transit"
1730 I arrive back at FedEx terminal to be told that it will be available after 1030 tomorrow and that there is no way for me to get it or for them to have got it out of the tote for me earlier.

So my question is why the heck did they jerk me around earlier when they knew that they don't work their packages until the day they are due for delivery. That's horrible customer service. At best they will make their scheduled delivery but they purposefully make sure that you won't get it a minute early.

How crazy is that? No matter how early it gets to Anc, they will not deliver it to you until your scheduled delivery date.

THEY SUCK!

Exact same purchase day, and exact same tracking info for me, too. I'm from the Toronto, Ontario area. Called UPS tonight - said it would be April 22 delivery. I know, originally, there was an update saying April 21. : (

Since I'm 60 miles south of Seattle do you think it's flying to Seattle? If so I could get it tomorrow :D

No. See the mini-FAQ in my sig on FedEx ANC-continental US hub flight info... :)

You will likely go ANC-OAK-SEA, but possibly ANC-MEM-SEA. Could even be ANC-IND-SEA.

You can still easily get it tomorrow, though!

Everything I read seems like that Memphis has it's stuff together. That would never ever ever happen in Anchorage.

Curiouser and curiouser.

My tracking info just got updated:

Apr 20, 2010 1:36 PM Departed FedEx location MEMPHIS, TN

FlightAware doesn't have a flight from Memphis to DFW on or around 1:36 PM. I'm thinking that I'm on a truck from Memphis to DFW since it only takes 7 1/2 hours to drive. If my hypothesis is correct I should have an arrival scan around 9:15PM tonight. This all fits in well with the scheduled delivery on or before 10:30 AM tomorrow, April 21.

It's possible that those who live too far away from Memphis to have their package trucked to them and still delivered by 10:30 AM tomorrow had their packages flown out of Memphis last night and thus were able to be delivered early.

And one more update on my tracking:
Apr 20, 2010 10:11 PM Arrived at FedEx location FORT WORTH, TX

It definitely looks like it was trucked from Memphis to Ft. Worth and will make tomorrow's scheduled delivery before 10:30AM. Nothing to do now but wait. :)

I know FedEx says delivery by noon for me, but how early can they deliver? I want to know so I don't miss the delivery person. Or is there a way I can find out a more exact time they'd be arriving. Thanks guys

Anytime between now and Noon.

If you really can't be there are feel like it's safe enough you can pre-sign for the package.

Generally not before 8AM, and probably not even that early. The delivery trucks usually go out around 7:30 - 9AM; 7:30AM is probably about the very very earliest if the truck goes out as early as possibly and you live a block away from the delivery facility...

...currently waiting for Migration Assistant to finish running, having just reinstalled. (Wanted to play with the machine first. Kinda sucks that you can't run Migration Assistant if you go through the initial setup and used the same username.)

I know I'm breaking the rules of this thread talking about stuff like this instead of flight and tracking information, but hopefully ya'll will forgive me this one transgression. ;)

If you want to migrate a user from your old machine to your new machine and you have already created that user on the new machine you can do it this way:

Create another user on the new machine (System Preferences->Accounts)
Make sure the new user is an Admin on the machine
Log into the new user account on the new machine
Delete the user name you originally created on the new machine
Run Migration Assistant and migrate over the user

It actually takes a lot less time to perform these steps than it does to read about them so if anyone finds themselves in this position it's a relatively quick and easy thing to work around.

I don't know if I'm going to be able to sleep! I got a case from Apple today from FedEx and I got it just before 12pm. Is that a good gauge on delivery time?

It's still possible the shipment will be up in Toronto tomorrow. If you watch the pattern of courier flights into and out of the courier hubs ( UPS and Fedex ) they tend to get a ton of flights coming in and out around Midnight, which makes sense as there is a lot less passenger flight traffic over night than during the day.

I think what they do is bring everything into the hub, sort, redistribute, and fly out again to hit centres around N.America early in the morning ( 5-4 hour flight times ). If you look at the UPS fleet as a whole, this is pretty apparent:

Fedex is similar:
