Well, that was pretty cool. About 10-15 minutes after my last post in the thread FedEx dropped off the new MBP.

The est. delivery day was Wednesday, so hopefully some of you guys will get yours early too.

I really hope so. I hope the FexEx people on the phone are incompetent and don't know what they are talking about. I'm sitting next to the door waiting for someone to knock it. It's consuming me. :D

Mine came and its gorgeous. Nothing wrong with at all, screen is perfect. UPS came at 16:45. I waited all day for them. Gotta go and have a play with thing and cause this its my first mac I gotta get used to it.:) :)

Good for you man. Now you can change your signature. :p

PS: still waiting for mine.

I just ordered a the base configuration (15", 2.2Ghz, 120GB HDD, Matte screen). Any ideas how fast this might ship? The website says delivery est. June 20 - 25. I hope it comes by Friday. :)

It's here!

My MacBook Pro (17" high-res, 7200rpm hd) arrived this morning. The workday dragged a little!

The screen is lovely, if you're considering the 17" high-res - get it!

The backlight has just come on under the keyboard. spooky!

... and mine is FINALLY in my hands! Now just an hour to clean install and 2 hours (ish) to transfer everything over. Still... it's *perfect* so far! :D

Why the clean install? I though Apple doesn't install crapware like other manufacturers.

BTW, this will be my first Mac ever, so any tips/suggestions for a new system, please post. :)

There's a big long thread on this very subject buried somewhere on the forum. :) I decided to reinstall as it removes all the extra languages and certain 'trial' products. It buys you some space on the hard drive, and I personally have no need for the languages or trials. You might be able to just drag the trial apps to the trash, but I'm not sure it's as 'clean' as just reinstalling.

for the most part they don't except for a minor 30 day trial of iwork suite. Not a big deal, but a bit annoying in light of the advertisements.

I should probably clarify that they're genuine 'trial' packages, not online services, advertisements etc. as you would get on a Windows installation.

I think they also include MS Office Trial, Aperture Trial, possibly others (can't remember everything!)

I can tell you for sure it s not the same a a clean install. If you are really trying to get at the languages use the application monolingual, but BE CAREFUL it is very powerful and you might need some of the languages later and for spell check.

Got it!

I'm writing this on...

My Alienware PC.

The MBP and my old G4 are engaged in transfering 4 years worth of spraf.

"only" 1hr 47 minutes to go.

Now off to change my signature.

The TNT depot is out in the sticks and the reason you can't go there until after 20:00 is it's flight side so the have planes pulling up to it. I had to put on a very fetching orange Hi-Vis jacket to get to reception.

I'm one of the original Pudong 50 and I got my new MBP SR today. I was very happy until I realized that the left corner of the lid is bent and that the screen has a very disturbing yellow tint.

Do you guys think they will send me a new one?

Just got my 15" 2.4GHz MBP. Upgrading from a 15" 1.5GHz Powerbook I must say I am impressed. I was afraid of a funky screen or any other defects but from what I can gather, this machine is in great shape. I'm amazed at how much thinner it is compared to my old Powerbook. After making sure all the keys worked, I popped off the ram housing door and put in the 4GB kit purchased from OWC. Just finished a clean install and am now transferring over my files. Chalk up another happy customer!

Exciting climax! I'm picturing you slo-mo running out onto the tarmac to meet your MBP :D

"Prepared for Shipment" I was a little late ordering my MBP 17" but it's now ready for shipment. I needed to post because this is a monumental day for me.

I ordered a Rev A G5 2x2Ghz back when they were annouced in 2003 for personal home use... For those that don't remember those beasts didn't actually start shipping until mid to late September of that year. That was my first Mac and is still sitting here running smooth.

Last year our Marketing Layout manager requisitioned a new G5 2.5 Ghz Quad Core + 30" Cinema Display. Since I am the Solaris/ Unix in general admin at our facility and a Mac fan I was asked to support this 1 off non PC box. My pleasure... The Marketing guy left the company in Jan of this year so the Mac convienently ended up on my desk. So now I'm using a Mac at work and home.

However, when I travel I still carry a Dell D600. Well last week I was in North Carolina on a business trip when my wife called me to ask what I really wanted for Fathers day... While mowing the yard a few weeks back I had mentioned really wanting a leaf blower.... Well this time she caught me in a real bad mood over the D600. And I just said what I really *&*&&! want is a Mac Laptop. She doesn't often give me the green light very quickly but this time she said "Well honey I think you should just go get one"

For me this is huge. As long as VMWARE or Parallels handles the handfull of applications I need to manage my environment at work then I will be PC free for the first time EVER!!!

Quite Frankly I just had to tell someone!!!
