The Associated Press reports that toy company Hasbro is set to unveil a new device called "My3D" that will allow iPhone and iPod touch users to view 3-D content on their devices.
It promises three-dimensional content that offers a 360-degree experience in gaming, virtual travel experiences and entertainment content. It's aimed at both children and adults.

The device, which resembles a pair of binoculars with a slot in which users insert their iPod or iPhone, will be priced at $30. It will be available starting next spring at stores where Apple's iPhones and iPod Touches are available.
According to the report, Apple assisted Hasbro with development of the My3D accessory, which will require specialized apps to support display of the 3-D content. Hasbro has teamed with Dreamworks Animation, as well as a forthcoming 3-D TV network backed by Discovery, Sony, and IMAX, to produce content for the device.

I wear glasses so this probably won't work for me. I haven't been able to use a ViewMaster in decades and that's what this looks like.

I am really getting tired of 3D everywhere. Can't wait for the trend to be over (again)

cool but glasses with a usb cord from phone to glasses would be way cool.

Brilliant move by Hasbro. I loved my Viewmaster. I still have an antique Stereo viewer w/ some old cards. I don't see using something like this 24/7 - but it's a neat gadget - esp. for kids (although I wouldn't put an iPod Touch or iPhone in the hands of an unsupervised child) that could keep them occupied while in a doctor's office waiting room, etc.

Will they be compatable with the Apple TV2? You know 3D movies will be great if I dont have to buy a new tv!

Everyone I've talk to about 3D television are either not interested, not about to buy another new television, do not want to wear special galsses to watch it. 3D is just something the television industry is trying to push customers into buying. They probably could have released these years ago at the same price as regular HDTV's, but they wait to release it now, expecting everyone to upgrade their recently purchased HDTV.

Which is why $30 glasses would appeal to those who want to rent HD (720P) 3D movies or TV shows on an Apple TV. No need to purchase a new TV, just glasses!

You would have to take it out of this device to interact with it. "360 degree gaming" will be limited to just looking around I guess. Could be kind of fun to try though.

Everything old is new again....

First we had a "mainframe" and a "terminal."
Then we got the desktop.
Now they want to sell us the "cloud."

And this:
Stereoscope

I guess the fact that the card is now an iPhone, well, that just sells it! :)
