none of those OEMs make a good notebook at 13 (except the xps 13, which is an ultrabook), you probably may find the sony s13 a good bet, since it packs a 640m LE inside the chassis that is around the same thickness of the cmbp 13 and with the weight of the rmbp 13, though it has its drawbacks

Yea, like the fact that you have to use Windows

This guy...

I'm waiting because I have a three year old desktop that's still more powerful than any laptop today. The rMBP is a luxury for me simply so I don't have to sit at my desk to do some work. I'll wait for the latest and greatest, thanks.

Hooray for AC! :D

And in meantime at IDF 2013 was shown Asus ux21 tweaked with 2560X1900 resolution..
The most important think I love on rmbp 2880X1800..of with great hardware that support that screen ( not as 13 rmbp...just 15 rmbp is quite sufficient)

dont kid yourself, the m18x, p570wm and the P370em are more powerful than your desktop in both the gpu and the cpu performance

That is not a UX21. It's a VivoBook S200 tweaked with Intel Atom Quad codename Baytrail tweaked running at 2560x1600. With that high resolution and Windows 8 poor DPI scaling, I don't see it being useful at all. It will lead to more problems and frustration.

And I feel sorry for all the people who shelled out top dollar last June for what was essentially a Beta device. I'm happy to have waited and I'm positive that my patience will pay off

Waiting an entire year to buy something that everyone else has been using(/enjoying/being productive/making money with in many cases) is not exactly something I'd be happy about to be honest. One or two months maybe but an entire YEAR of lost productivity doesn't make sense to me. Of course I use my machines for business so that's where I'm coming from. A casual user I guess it wouldn't matter but then again what kind of casual user pays 2k+ for a notebook lol

It's not like I don't have a computer. 2009 15" MBP. And yes, the Retina MBP will be overkill for what I do, but I want it. I work in film Production but I'm not a editor. I use scheduling software and Excel for production forms. I could use a cheaper computer for my purposes. But I also have to view the dailies (Previous days footage) and they sure will look nice on that retina display. And really, the cMBP would be $400 less, so the money isn't really the issue

Ah ok I was thinking you didn't have a machine at all.

With a 680M sli, yeah.

you are running crossfire, thats why I only pointed out those that can be with dual cpus, and one uses a desktop sandy bridge E cpu, the others can oc the 3940xm usually at 4.5ghz some can do 5ghz

those scumbags, with their screws and god knows what!

Regardless, people who allow OWC to perform aftermarket upgrades on brand new machines act like that is the norm for most consumers when it comes to pricing higher spec'ed Macs. When in reality, there are a very small percentage of people who are willing to do all of that. So, the norm is and should be Apple's pricing for configuration options on Apple.com.
