True, and what sucks about it. You can really see it in the Verge review. He talks about how cool it is playing portal 2 on the subway. I fell of my chair reading it. Like that was a thing. the early-posted review feels like shallow hands-on just to get content on their site.

and they say what people wanna hear. That's all they do. They you have people like Anand who takes a long time making a review, but actually goes into detail and seems more like he actually knows what he is talking about. TheVerge crew, and Cnet crew all strikes me as wannabe tech editors who wikipedia knowledge. That's okay - I don't blame them for doing great.

I am just sad that everyone rush in excitement to see a review, review, review, and then after a while the majority buys instantly based on these must-get-my-review-up-fast-to-get-more-hits-articles instead of the really good ones. That is a sad trend. we don't hold our editorial content in very high esteem, generally speaking.

It's a problem across the entire IT spectrum. Just look at the god awful state of the gaming review industry. Most of the major websites are shills for companies as they need the advertising revenue. Word of mouth is a better way to look at things, but even then it's not ideal as obviously people who have problems will bark the loudest.

So anandtech will never put is review up??? Is it supposed to take longer? Im impatient in knowing if i buy the base or bigh model 15 inch!

Jesus, people. Good quality things take time. There's a reason everyone's waiting on the AT review, and it's the same reason that almost all the reviews published so far are virtually useless.

I actually don't think the gaming review industry is that bad...

But the tech review sector is getting a bit ridiculous. I've stopped reading iVerge reviews for a while, but I still go to them for news. Meanwhile, I've found myself returning to Engadget, at least for the reviews I can't find on Ars, Notebookcheck or Anandtech, which to me set the golden standard in reviews right now.

Sites like The Verge aren't really reviews anyway. It's more like some guys personal opinion, they don't even pretend being objective, but will pretend like their opinion is somehow representative of the entire tech population and all their readers. They like to add 'edgy', 'topical' content to make up for the lack of facts and total lack of any objectivity.

Seriously, in a review of the MBP, the most imp thing according to him is how he can whip it out in the subway, no doubt to appear smug in front of everyone else, and play Portal? And his conclusion based on this is that it's a professional laptop and the best ever, because he can play a frigging game no one else dates about?!

Where would we go to watch/listen to it? :O

I don't see it as one of Google's "scheduled" on-air events, but I'm sure Anand's main web site will be updated with the link as the hour approaches. And, for people who can't tune in as it's streaming, it'll be posted to YouTube afterward.

I'm paging through the talk.. Is there a specific time stamp in which he talks about the mbp?
He's seemingly talked about ipads and A7 for 50 min -_-) ... K, so 1hr 6 min in.. No mention of haswell or MBP. For those hitting the link late, just continue w/ the live feed. There was no mention of the MBPs yet.

Should be the next subject they talk about.

A bit underwhelmed with the info an and had during his hangout regarding the rmbp. They only spent like 10-15 minutes on it and most of it was about airplanes :(

Edit

Did anand say anything about os lag??

Yes, he said that it still isnr perfect, but its dramtically improved as far as scrolling goes. Other OS lag mentioned was pressing space bar to get a preview of the thumbnail which someone's have then a beach ball, as well as sometimes Tyndall's not showing the picture in finder.

did he say it's software related or CPU related??

did he say it's software related or CPU related??

It just reeks of bad code to me... who admittedly knows nothing about code. ;)

But seriously, these are virtually desktop-class CPUs. I'm done blaming hardware for UI lag.

What I took from it is that the new rMBP does not lessen the fear of getting spilled on mid-flight. :)

They didn't say anything solid, but were kind of surprised why apple can't figure out how to make these things work given the simplicity of the tasks (this is just what I interpreted from their reaction), so it seems like it's software. They mentioned there was a lot of new code for mavericks, so I think they believe it's software related.

I've got a review, it's awesome, I love mine! ;) I was going to wait for AnandTech's review, but I just couldn't wait. :D
