I’m planning to get my first Max this year. I’ve been curious about the larger screen and the camera improvements seem solid. But if I had already ordered a 12 Pro I would just keep that. From the articles I’ve read the upgrades aren’t huge. I realize we don’t have actual comparisons yet. The 12 Pro already has upgrades over the 11 Pro and I’ve been thrilled with my 11 Pro pictures.
I wanted a smaller phone. So I am downsizing this year.

And this concludes my decision to return the 12 pro and get the pro max. Not much difference in photos. Curious to see sample of pro max.

I also plan to go with 12 pro max for the larger and perhaps newer generation sensor.

Hopefully Apple will update rest of the sensors in coming years and maybe add stabilization for ultra-wide.

Do people really expect the Pro Max camera to perform that much different than the Pro? It has slightly better zoom and slightly better low light performance. Definitely not worth it if you don't want the size of the Max. Just get the 12 Pro.
Yes it's supposed to be a good improvement..

iPhone XR and 11 owners will be very happy with the iPhone 12, massive improvement when you place the 12 and xr/11 side by side.
Yes! This makes me excited about my jump from XR to 12 pro! Between screen and camera improvements I am super excited, this may be my favorite upgrade yet.

I will upgrade once they manage to get the Pro Max's cam on the regular Pro, which I expect for their upcoming gen. My XS is producing the same quality images for the past 2 years. Lets be honest Apple's go to has been about the cam for the past 3 years. When I look at the comparison videos, I honestly cant tell a difference between XS to 12 Pro apart from nightmode/bad ultrawide cam. Anyone with an X or below should definitely upgrade though - the video/photo quality is quite an upgrade for them.

Only solidified my choice. I was hesitant on downgrading from the pro max 11 to the pro 12 but after seeing the sizes on videos I’m so excited for a smaller phone :)

After working through my FOMO yesterday, I’ve decided to give the 12 a fighting chance since it’s shipping to me anyway. If I feel like I’m not getting enough from it, I’ll return and get a max. Otherwise I’ll keep it for the year and upgrade next year when hopefully the smaller Pro gets all the camera improvements (and hopefully the other two cameras are also improved).

When do you think the reviews of the new Pro Max cameras are going to be available?

Tuesday before the phones are released, same as with the 12/12 Pros. The Mini reviews will come out the same day.

So if you can order it on the 6th NOV then the reviews will be on the 3rd of November? That would be great for me as my Pro order is still "Processing" and will not arrive until the 10th. Enough time to cancel it.

No, November 6th is the pre-order, not the release date. The release date is November 13, so reviews should be out November 10th, same day you're scheduled to get the phone you've currently ordered. You will have 14 days to initiate a return though so you can still get the benefit of the reviews.

Yeah, the XS is when Apple started getting more serious about cameras. The Smart HDR makes a massive difference in everyday photos compared to the 8 Plus/X generation--although those took great photos too.

Ok perfect! I don't know why they are doing this difference on the release date of the 2 Pro phones... They don't allow you to decide well what you want. For similar phones, the release date should be the same. I can understand if the "no pro model" has a different release date than the 2 Pros but I don't understand this difference between the 2 Pro because I am sure there will be a lot of people buying the Pro and then returning it if the Pro Max looks better and that's much worse for logistic and customer experience. No idea why they are doing this.
