I’ve been using iPhones since the 3g. I’ve dropped my phones multiple times with no case and luckily no cracked screens. Just minor scratches.
 
I cracked one screen - 3GS - back when I was 20 (28 now) and it was a freak accident.

I've had iPhones for 9 years. One crack ain't bad! They are far more durable than people make them out to be.
