The most frivilous thing I can think of was buying several airline tickets in a single weekend due to missing flights and stuff.

I don't believe in debt........every month when my statement arrives I can't believe it!

I've been in debt for years, but it's all just cash-flow. I know I could've bought a car with the debit interest I've paid in that time but then I wouldn't have been able to do/get some of the things I have, sometimes because of need and sometimes want.

Most of the debt is probably gone into family stuff anyway, including helping out other members of my family who don't/didn't have access to credit of their own. I know I'm a sucker but money doesn't actually mean anything to me, just what it enables me to do.

While the debt does bother me, it's a compromise that I've 'had' to make to live my life as I have (for good or bad) and I'm lucky enough to have a light at the end of the tunnel with investments that will pay out at somepoint in the future. I know I can, long term at least, provide for my family which is about all that matters. The short and medium term could be a struggle though........meh, there's always the lotto!

Who's is that vineyard again? :D

I stopped all that after totalling everything up in 2002 and realising I had over £15k of personal debt and owed about £4k to the taxman. Bit of an eye-opener. It was a struggle to get it paid off, including living like a hermit for a while before I allowed my spending to start climbing again, and now I'm really careful to make sure it doesn't happen again. My VISA gets used more like an AmEx these days. If the money's not there, I don't spend.

Although it's nice now to say I have no personal debt, I wouldn't recommend that cold turkey period to anyone. It was so DULL!! Just work, go home to watch TV, eat basic food, sleep. On repeat. Day after day.

Yes. On an almost daily basis

Lets second that!

It seems as soon as I get out of debt (paid say 80% of it off).. something new comes out, or clothes, shoes, just anything.. and I have to have it!

So I'm back in debt once again. What can I say. I'm a product-whore.

But that's the key to happiness. From Twin Peaks:

 ...and all too true although I tend to treat myself more than once per day just in case I've missed out somewhere down the line, especially on cabs as those who know me know all too well. :D

(BTW: Season 2 out on DVD later this year)

Next month, I shall be completely debt-free. Yay! Just a couple of hundred quid to pay off on one credit card... the last real splurge was the iPod Hifi, bigger-ticket items now tend to get saved for (like my next Mac which will be a 2007 MBP).

What have I bought in the last 2 months:

- Trip to Perth ($1000 USD)
- New camera lens ($400 USD)
- MacBook ($1500 USD (where I come from))
- RAM for MacBook ($130 USD)
- Crumpler backpack (bought it today)($170 USD)
- Ticket to fly to Brisbane
- Whatever I spend while in Brisbane

= approximately $3800

I have no job and I'm a student. I think I bought a lot because deep down inside, I'm not happy. At all. I've always been good with money (ie: cheap-ass), but the last year has been my worst spending ever.

Considering I am a broke college student, the fact that in the last 30 days I've spent clost to $1k on bicycle parts, bought a 20.1" LCD, a $170 LaCie drive, and spent $250+ redecorating my bedroom makes me both joyous and worried :p

One day, I will have the money to go on a spending spree. :(

I did get drunk in Edinburgh several years ago, and end up in Dublin. That was expensive. :D But as for spending sprees that haven't involved correcting drunken travel, no.

My spending sprees usually revolve around CD's and DVD's. My one true vice. Usually, once a year I'll drop a $100-200 on music. Other than that, I try to be stingy and save my pennies. Stuff around the house needs to be done, and its always more than I expect.

Does it count that I bought a whole bunch of tools (tablesaw, router & table, drill, jigsaw, chopsaw) last year to remodel my basement? I figure all told, I spent far less on tools and materials than I would have paid a contractor.

Can I use that? "Darling, I know I just spent £1200 on a new stereo, but it's cheaper than hiring an orchestra!!" :)

It would work if you use this stereo for your wedding in lieu of a band....

About a year ago I went on a DVD buying spree the worse hit to my checking account came when I spent $230 at Best Buy in one trip. I think when all was said and done I probably spent about $600-800 over the course of a month. Money that I could have been put to better use...but where would I be without my copies of Monty Python's Hoy Grail and Back to the Future Trilogy? :p
I spent $1500 on DVD's once, now I Amazon them as soon as they come out so it does not too bad.

I go on a spree twice (maybe 3 times) a year... birthday and Christmas (and possibly the tax return). Although, this year, I probably won't get to blow too much of my b-day money, as it's the first year I have to pay the taxes on my car and get a new tag, plus I just had about $700 in car repairs. Still holding out for the DS Lite, though. :D

I save up and have a shopping spree a few times a year. The last one was about two months ago and included:

A new digital camera - £170
Tickets for the British GP - £100
Some new CD's from Amazon - £60
Some new 'summer' clothes - £100

Oh, and I bought Adobe CS2 on eBay for £430 (but that's a saving of £400, so it doesn't count :p )

yep several over the last couple of weeks I got a new sofa & dining table & chairs, for the house I'm moving to (if we ever move in!!) & I'm going on one today to stock up on booze & get a coffee maker (as it's cheaper in france)

What is the most any of you have spent in an apple store in one go?
£899 for my iMac, but considering it's a business tool so tax deductable, and I'm VAT registered and claimed that back, it's more like £600 in real terms :)

As many of you may know, I am in training to be a hand model.

I went to the mall and hit Bath and Body Works, Sephora, Aveda, and The Body Shop for things to make my nails and hands look nice, to improve my hands, to clean them up for hand modeling..

I spent ~$120 on lotions, files, cuticle sticks, cuticle creams, nail treatments, nail hardeners, scrubs, hand masks...

BEST FREAKING MONEY I'VE EVER SPENT!!

with money you have or don't actually have? ;)

I have no money... but I do have credit :p ahhhhh... I'm too responsible to go on a serious spending spree, but in the past month I bought a treadmill, new washer/dryer an awning for our deck and a new BBQ. I need to let my card cool off before I get a new MBP ;)

Yes, I have. ;)
