Think I had it in Spain a couple of years ago. We ate out every night so it could be from a couple of places but yea - wasn't fun. I think I was sick twice but I just couldn't eat for a week. Whole body was a wreck

Got better as soon as I got home but had to be put on some rehydrating salt drink which was probably as tasty as eating tree bark.

Ughhh, I don't envy you.

We had a Christmas party at Windows on the World in the Trade Center one year. By the time I got home, I was starting to get sick. Got off the train and had to get my then GF to pull the car over. We had to pull over twice for the 10 minute ride home. She sat there and messed with me thinking I had too much to drink. I thought so too at first... I visited the porcelain palace every 20 minutes for 2 days and had a migrane on day 3.

This was a Friday, went back to work the following Tuesday to find out about half the company was out sick too.

You drank half a gallon of milk and ate some nuts all in one go, and you're wondering why you were ill?! Next time why not throw in a couple of raw eggs and a live squid for good measure and see if that works out any better for you.

thats not food poisoning, thats just bad milk and an overload of bad milk at that.

Read

some time.

Foodborne illness (also foodborne disease) is any illness resulting from the consumption of food.

Foodborne illness is commonly called food poisoning.

Last I checked, if it can make your intestins fill like they are stabbing you, generate abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and hot flashes, it's called food poising!!! You have to be a total n00bie to think it's not food poison!!!! :D That's like saying if you point a loaded machine gun at your head and pull da trigger, it'll do no harm! It's only a gun!! :D

As a little tradition, the boss' at my work would often get snacks from a local bakery as a little treat for everyone, and one day they went to the bakery 2 shops down instead of the usual one...

Everyone got food poisoning... the shop had to be closed for 3 days before they could get enough staff back to re-open...

The bakery is still open today and although both boss' filed a formal complaint with the bakeries head office, nothing ever came of it...

Nobody from work has ever set foot in there since...

Yes it can.

Thanks for that Abstract. I was being lazy and going from memory. Here is what Nations Health Service Direct say about it...

Incubation periods are different for each cause of food poisoning. Some types produce symptoms and illness within 30 minutes to a few hours. Most cases of food poisoning take between 12-48 hours to develop and symptoms come on suddenly.

Other types take between a few days and up to a week before symptoms start to appear. If the food poisoning is due to an infection with Campylobacter, it may take a week or longer to develop symptoms.

It only took around 2 hours for me to feel completely ill after eating food at Bangkok airport (Thailand) around 4 years ago. After I got back to HK (on New Years Eve), I had the s***s for the rest of the night, and for 3 days after that. The next day, I couldn't eat a thing. In fact, I couldn't eat for 3 days. I could only have really soft foods, so I had a bit of soup and grapes. It didn't stay in my stomach, but at least I was ingesting food. Anyway, I found out last year that grapes are a laxative, so they probably made the situation worse.

I'd be interested to hear some more about your internal workings...

Oh wait, it's OK. You've told us everything already :D ;)

Me too. I pour soy milk in with my muesli for breakfast. However, I have milk with my daily cappuccino. Soy milk coffee is gross.

see, I don't think so. I've never really thought that milk coffee over soy milk coffee tasted any better, but maybe I'm not just aware of how my coffee tastes? :p

Doesn't sound like the symptoms I had, but they can differ slightly. It took a couple hours or so before the worst started, but I had numbness of the lips, dizziness, raised temperature, severe abdominal pains (thought I was having a heart attack), and finally violent nausea for about four hours. Felt truly horrid all night.
