I got my first Mac laptop a bit over 3 years ago. Since then I replaced all our machines with Macs. I'm very happy with that decision and it is highly unlikely that I would switch back to Windows.

I most use Windows now. The only Mac I routinely use is my Mini. I have Windows 7 on my gaming PC and my HTPC. I went with it for the HTPC since that machine actually has a Blu-Ray drive and a 1TB internal hard drive. When I wanted to replace my 6 year old Powerbook, I ended up getting a Dell from their outlet store (with a 20% off coupon) for under $500. I couldn't afford a MBP at the time, and the Dell does everything I want to do with it. Yeah, the hardware isn't as good as a MBP (mostly the trackpad), but I can live with it for half the price.
I used Windows machines all my life until last winter. It wasn't until my junior year of high school that I could afford a high-end Mac. I love OS X. It's just... sexy. But, I have no problem with Windows 7. It's a fine operating system. I think it's funny that my Mac runs Windows better than most machines that come with Windows. It's the quality of Apple products that entices me.

Just got my first Mac 2 months ago after using and loving my iPad. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't spent the extra money for my MBP. Don't do graphics and only listen to music, so I might not be getting the most out of it. I find myself using the same software I used on my Vista machine and had to get Parallels for two programs that Mac doesn't have programs for. Should have just stuck with windows in the first place.

I have and I plan to get rid of my Macbook Pro after finishing school. It's not a bad experience but I can definitely work my way around with a PC a lot better. It may be biased but I'm a gamer so Mac simply isn't an option.

I had to use a mac during my stint in College, and OSX had just come out. 2005 I think it was. Well I loved the UI and the ease. After that I didn't have the $$$ for a real comp because I had just bought the piece of crap dell, but I wen't ahead and got a mac mini 1st gen. Slowly I started using the mini more and more, and was only using the mini. After uni I splurged and got myself a midline Macbook, you know the things that just were put in apples trash bin? Well this summer I am able to put the $$$ forward to go all out and get the re-fresh 2012 MPB with the top processor. I will Upgrade RAM on my own, and 5 years from now I will most likely get my 4th mac, unless I get an iMac in there somewhere. Never going back, and will mock those who wish to use windows at their primary. However, I would also say that the poll is flawed because the site is dominated by mac users, not those that have turned to the "dark side"

I went Mac in late 2011. I bought an iMac to replace my dying desktop and loved it. I then promptly decided that I had to have a MacBook and sold my brand new Vaio and took a loss to justify buying the MacBook. Then I couldn't decide which MacBook to buy so I bought both a 2011 Pro and Air and haven't looked back. I will never go windows again unless the unthinkable happens and Apple begins to suck, but all in all I couldn't be happier with my choice and encourage everyone who asks to go Mac its just better, better build, better OS and better end user experience.
No reason to ever go back to PC. Apple has great customer service, great warranties, great software/hardware.
on February 26, 2012, I got a gift coming home, a box was on my bed. Looks like my mom got me a new laptop. My first laptop and it's an apple. I've used pc desk computers in the family lounge for 10 years and never attempt to ask for laptop or anything. My sister and mother both have macbook air. Since I'm starting school in the summer, she decided to give me a laptop

To be fare, I hate windows, like Linux, and love OS X. I can see myself staying in OS X in the future, but for work I'll have to stick with the old and outdated Windows XP.

Had numerous top end Windows PC's, sold them off and went for a variety of laptops as a house move meant a desk was not practical so was getting no use.
After a couple of laptops I decided I really wanted to get a macbook for both a good laptop experience and also to learn Xcode in the future.
Can not see me going back to Windows for a full time OS. Only use it to game on now and thats as far as it goes.

I wouldn't buy another windows machine again; I had to re-install vista on my mum's pc and it took the best part of 4 hours to update it, install service packs, install programs again... actually stressed me out! I don't think I'll be switching back to windows any time soon, although I still use it in the computer labs at uni due to software
To be honest, I don't really care that much. I use a mac pro at work, and when I'm home I have an air and a windows desktop that I use for gaming. They're both fine but if there was a windows laptop that could match the fit and finish of a macbook, I wouldn't have many qualms about switching back. In terms of operating systems, as a guy who knows how to avoid the potential pitfalls, I kind of prefer windows, to be honest.

How's this different from any operating system? No matter the operating system, you need to install updates at some point...
Back on topic, my first computer as a kid was the first iMac G3. Used Macs right up until 2008, when I decided to switch to the PC; I wanted a gaming machine and Apple's iMac offerings were awful in comparison to the amount of PC I could get for the same money (the case is far better now, with iMacs being very powerful machines; the price/performance ratio is a million times better now, back then they were dog-slow). Very, very soon afterwards I realised that I had made a huge mistake, but was unfortunately stuck with that machine. Vista wasn't too bad at first; it actually got worse over time, whereas for everybody else it seemed to get better!
Fast forward to August last year, and we'd had enough of the system; went straight back to Macs.
It was a dark few years, but at least I know now.
I never really left. I use whatever's best for the task at hand. For me, that usually means Windows for gaming and my home theater PC, FreeBSD for servers and Macs for everything else including my day job. Although, occasionally I do have to use a Windows machine for work (my Mac's too weak to run Windows in a VM).
Sometimes, I do think I'm crazy for liking Macs so much For example, my employer issued me a very nice Dell quad-core i7 laptop (with a 1920x1080 screen) yet I prefer to use my 5 year old 13" Macbook at work. Not only that, I'll be willing to spend a lot of money in a few months on a new Macbook Pro to primarily use for work while my company-issued Windows laptop is just sitting next to me collecting dust. Oh well.
