He's full of crap, I used 18gb last month, and nothing from AT&T. They couldn't care less unless you are tethering, then you have some splainin' to do.:D

How? That seems like a ridiculous amount of data.
 
i called AT&T and told them that it was impossible, because i wasn't using any data intensive apps and secondly, i was at home on my wifi when this occurred. they happily credited my account for all the overages.

Good to hear they understand. I've always had good experiences with AT&T customer service as well.
 
I could understand why AT&T would limit the data plan to 2gb for smartphones, but I think it's just straight up stupid to have the same cap for the iPad, let alone have that be the only option. It's had to stream stuff over 3G, like movies, knowing that there's a 2gb cap. They should offer at least 4gb for the iPad and other tablet devices.
 
I am lucky enough to still have the unlimited data plan on my iPhone. Most months I don't exceed 5GB but there are a couple months that I've broken that "cap" wide open. We crossed 10GB one month. There was a lot of Netflix streaming that month. AT&T didn't bat an eye.
