Aug 26th. Wondering how many have sold their previous iPhone and are waiting for the IP 8 or the IP 7S or the IP 7S +?

I've listed mine on eBay and since I already have 2 bidders, it's GONE in a couple more days. While it's not scientific, it appears to me that the prices of the present IPs degrade in the 2 weeks before the announcement of the next model. Then, after the announcement, prices stabilze and even increase for the older models.

I can sell early because I have a spare iPhone 5S that gets me through the period while I'm waiting for the new phone. Right now iPhone 7s are going between $500-$600 with most closer to $600.

I actually will trade my device into my carrier. I don't trust selling my devices on eBay anymore. But I agree, that prices will drop significantly because of The market is saturated with used iPhones for sale on the Internet.

Not yet. Is $499 too much for a mint condition 32gb iPhone 7 Plus?

No way I'll sell it before a phone is even announced. Not guaranteed I'll even be able to get one on launch day. I've done it before once my order is placed but hate making do with a lesser phone than I'm used to. So not until it's in my hand.

You could add another question or two to the poll. "Will keep my present iPhone 7 or earlier model" doesn't quite cover my plans. I'll probably keep my iPhone 6 until early next year, and upgrade then, after the frenzy has died down.

I keep my phones for around three years. While I think I understand what motivates people who upgrade annually, I do wonder how many are using "sell now" as a strategy to get a better price (as the market will be flooded with older iPhones once the new one is available), and how many do it to have the money in pocket to buy the next phone as soon as it's available?

Sold my iPhone 7 Plus today as I have a spare 5S to get me by for now.

That way I get maximum cash before the prices begin to plummet when the new iPhones are announced.

I also have the backup 5S and boy is it slow compared to my previous 6, 6S and 7, but it does tide me over.

Yep it is much slower but it will do the job for the next 3-4 weeks or so.

And, when we get our shiny new phones, it will feel like a HUGE step up.

I will definitely sell my 6s Plus, but only when I have the iPhone 8 in hand. I typically use Swappa to sell my old phones and haven't had any issues. I also wouldn't be opposed to trading my phone in to Apple, despite the fact that I'll lose a few bucks, but I have no idea how to do that during the preorder. Swappa it is, then.

I have my 6+ now, and am thinking of just keeping it as a back up phone. The back up to this is an old blackberry that would just be an emergency for calls and texts.

I usually sell my current iPhone either just before or just after the release of the new iPhone. Usually get about 75% of what it cost when I bought it new when selling privately.

Do you get more with trade ins from big retailers like AT&T? If so, I'd just trade my current one in at the time I purchase the 8

Depends on if the carrier is doing a trade in promo (such as free new iPhone with qualifying trade in), but that usually comes in the form of 2 years of monthly credits that you forfeit if you pay off the phone early or cancel service.

Otherwise, you definitely get more selling on your own.

I hate selling technology items, people always want to buy for next to nothing and you end up losing money. I'll likely buy the 8 and then a month will go buy and I'll find someone I know to buy the 7 Plus. I would probably end up keeping it as I'm sim only, but I bought a white one this time round and I don't really like it

I have my 7 up for sale, but if no one buys it then I will just continue to use it. However if someone does buy it, then I have an SE to use until Apple announces the new models. If I'm not really that impressed with them, I'll just continue to happily use my SE.

This is ridiculous. Some money (selling) is better than no money (keeping). Jeez.
