Mmm I would not say doing well. With my HTC One I was, going through a full day was no dramas, and I would need to recharge every night which never bothered me. The 5S I had lacked that little bit extra juice to get me through.

Sounds like you're kind of a heavy user then. Don't you have an opportunity to charge at any point during the day? I have several chargers at home, and one in my car. I just plug it in for a few minutes here and there when I'm near one. Most of the time I wouldn't really need to, but if I'm staying put, why not?

I already have an iPad Air and I only use my iPhone 5 to surf the net a few minutes at a time while on the go. I guess if your going to use your phone for hours at a time surfing the net the 6+ is the way to go. Just make sure you have loose fitting pants with big deep pockets.

I think this is a good point. At home (like now) I use my iPad Air. I only use my iPhone when in the office or out and about and then it's for a couple of minutes at a time. 6 should do just fine.

At the sake of sounding like a shill, this review is probably the best one I've read on the new iPhone lineup mainly because it's a review on what it is to actually use the phones in more of a "real world" type situation.

I pre-ordered the smaller 6 but even I was having doubts after I read that review.

Love techcrunch's take on both phones, very informing and unbiased. Looking forward to getting the plus!

I have this odd obsession with trying to get the most out of my battery. I let it drain and recharge it fully then take it of the charger. I think it makes the span the battery will last longer. Could be wrong though.

I wouldn't call myself a heavy user. The fact is I text a lot. And doing simple stuff like that on the 5S would see the battery still plummet. The 5S was hit and miss tho. Sometimes good sometimes bad. The other day I managed 23 hours standby and 7 hours usage with my 5S. Other days it's much worse. Depends how you use it.

Also would you guys factor in the fact I can get the 128Gb at the price of the 64Gb and I have one saved for me at work on Friday (iPhone 6).

Here in Australia we can purchase them outright not on a plan. I believe you guys are limited to plans?

I was in that boat. First time ever I didn't order it on pre order day. I had my daughter make up mockups for me in the evening. And put it in cardboard as thick as the 5s.

The 6+ was just fine. Easy to hold in one hand. My thumb could reach across the screen. The slim fit chino trousers I was wearing easily swallowed them up in the same pocket as my wallet. And then I found out that my 5s was in there as well. I was able to sit comfortably etc. and I didn't look like I was happy to see you if you get my drift.

That made up my mind and I ordered the 6+.

It is interesting to read about the different things that are important to other users and how they use their devices. I totally get the point about the smaller size of the 6 would be much easier to use and transport most of the time and how the 6+ will likely require two hands to use.

For myself, I always have my phone with me and when I know I am going to have some time to kill I also bring my iPad Air. Getting a 6+ will allow me to only bring a single device most of the time now, which is a big convenience for me. I'm a tall guy with relatively big hands so the size doesn't bother me as much as it would a smaller person. I'm sure there will be times when the size of the 6 will be annoying but for how I use my device the majority of the time, the bigger size and extra batter life is actually a plus. I also run a bit and will look at some kind of arm band for it. While it may look funny to have a giant phone strapped to the arm I don't really care what I look like while running.

Okay, yes, I get that, but here's the thing. Some of that is "voodoo" that people remember from old batteries that had a "memory effect" where the capacity would actually decrease over time if you didn't fully discharge them often. This doesn't happen with lithium batteries.

Now, Apples DOES recommend you fully discharge and recharge a full cycle at least ONCE A MONTH, because it helps the iPhone calibrate the battery better. But seriously, that's only ONCE A MONTH. You can stop obsessing over this. :p

Keep a charger at work or in the car, and just top it off a bit when you can. By the way, I've learned the hard way to either use an Apple charger or at least a "Made for iPhone" approved charger. Cheap, crappy chargers can actually cause crashing and other issues. You don't have to pay Apple prices, just look for the MFI certification.

Yeah I suspected some of that is voodoo. But then again I look at my girlfriend and the way aw uses and chargers her phone (careless, whenever) and the quality of her battery life is awful. Almost seems like the battery is consuming itself faster because of those bad charging practices.

I hope there is more information on the battery life tomorrow. If anyone finds anything please post!

The guy who said he's tall, I agree with you. There is plenty of arguments to justify one or the other. That's what is making this decision so hard. Wish the had the demos in store a week earlier.

My mind was made up after spending some time with comparably-sized phones. After trying out the Note 3 and G3, I found my wife's Galaxy S3 too small for my tastes.

I spent some time at a local WalMart (where reps wouldn't bother me) handling the Galaxy Note 3 (~iP6+) and the HTC One M8 (~iP6). Personally, I didn't mind the Note 3--I could reach across the screen easily (I have long fingers) but I really liked the portability of the M8 better.

I really like the 1080 screen and I believe the higher resolution will be better for certain apps in the long run. I just wish it were in the smaller form factor of the iP6 (~M8).

By the way, keep in mind that iOS 8 has the new feature to show apps by battery usage! That is a long overdue feature, in my opinion. When you find out the Facebook app has been draining battery in the background (which it does, by the way) you can make sure to turn off all of its background features, or just delete it. This should really help battery life in general.

Yeah this feature is going to be much appreciated once I get used to having it. That said, I'm not having a really hard time choosing, as I'm certain I want the plus. This could change of course if it just doesn't fit my hand but I can't see that really being an issue for me.
