Sent my watch to be plated and now 2 weeks after they received it, I have not heard anything and no responses to a few emails I've sent...

Anyone have any contact information or how i can get hold of someone?

Thanks!

I'll see if I can find anything, but SERIOUSLY... how do you send a watch to a "company" with no contact information?

EDIT

Okay, searching provides nothing but a few other complaints that the company has stopped taking phone calls - which worries me, because that could mean that they purposely removed their contact info. I'll keep trying to find something; you can try to post something on their FB page (they seem to be moderately active).

There's not much we can do, being an internet forum. What company did you send it it, and what were you looking to have done, i.e., nickel plated, gold plated? What is their advertised turn around time?

I just wondered if someone had used them before and maybe had a contact number or I know the company has posted here in the past also, the company is called "WatchPlate".

Long story short, originally sent in watch, brand new and sealed, and got it back having opted for the gold plated and the quality was very poor, the plating was so thin that the silver still showed through.

There were scratches all over the watch and there was a scuff mark on one side.

The buckle mechanism was also damaged and just fell off the pins.

Originally went smoothly, and the watch was sent back within the 5 working days they state.

But after receiving it in the condition I did, I emailed them and got a response saying I should send it back to be re-plated which I did and again they stated 3-5 days.

They got the watch on the 24th August and the last email I got was on the 27th stating it would be sent by the 28th.

However, that never happened and a few emails later I am now not receiving any responses even though they are receiving my emails.

Thanks, I have posted on their fB page and it just said the post has to be reviewed first...

Where are you based? If it took two weeks to get to them and they turn it round in two days then it could take two weeks to get back to you. That's 30 days by my count

Perhaps, but without stating the company name in your OP, it would have been impossible to know :)

So you have had some interactions with the company - hopefully you'll hear back from them soon.

Edit:
If you do a whois on watchplate.com you do get a contact phone number, you can maybe try that.

Everything I'm seeing online about this particular company... not good, unfortunately - either with contact problems, or quality of work. I hope they are in the process of returning this person's property, or at least have the professional decency to respond to their email. If they have to redo their service or materials, fine - just let people know. Don't disappear.

Wait, name of the company is WatchPlate, correct? From the title?

I am in the UK, it only took 3 days to get to them the first time as they sent a FedEx express shipping label.

The second time it took 6 days because they sent a standard one.

However, whenever they actually send it, I get an email from fedEx straight away showing the shipping status so I know it hasnt been sent as I havent had any info from fedex.

Thank you for that, I will try and ring it but if I am calling from the UK, what code is it to ring the US?

Yeah, even if it get it back without it being sorted I'd be happy as its a $1,000 watch and spent $500 on the plating and another $171 on import costs the first time it got sent back to me...

Yes.

That's inexcusable...that, and ignoring emails. ESPECIALLY when you're in possession of someone's property.

Yeah, its not a good feeling when no one is responding and you have no idea if you are ever going to see the watch again...

You sent them a brand-new, sealed SS Watch... (sheesh); when you got it back the first time, in horrible condition (Warning #1), did you verify the Serial number? Just making sure...

Country code is 001, so it would be 001-xxx-xxx-xxxx

Thanks, number does ring but there hours are 9-6 but of course they are 8 hours or so behind the UK so i will try later and see if anyone picks up.

I honestly went off their endorsements firstly on their website, some YouTube reviews and also forum members on here who successfully had a decent quality plating done, they had a thread on here where forum members where posting, so it seemed respectable.

Again, I had no issues with email responses before and so when they offered to correct my watch, as is does come with a 30 day guarantee, it again all seemed OK.

And they did email last week to say it would be sent however its only since then communication has gone cold and I have no idea what is happening or if i will ever see the watch again :(

But did you actually read these threads? Forum members were also reporting many problems such as the gold rubbing off, dirty boxes, unresponsive customer service, etc.

My watch was already on its way to them by that point, but people were getting them back at least, I guess you live and learn right?

I'll hopefully get in touch and at least get the watch back..

I recently sent my watch in as well, and I just got my return shipping confirmation Wednesday. Their live chat is actually available on the site right now, so it's a worth a shot to try!

Thanks,

I'll give it a go!

Sounds like Apple will shut out this line of business soon. Rumors posted on the MacRumors home page about additional finishes being announced this week.
