I personally have:
  • MacBook Pro
  • iPhone 4S
  • iPad 2
  • Kindle
  • iPod nano (never use this... it sits in a drawer)

In our household, there is also:
  • Another MacBook Pro
  • iPhone 4
  • 3 Apple TVs
  • Mac mini
  • Gateway desktop
  • Sony laptop
  • Another Kindle

I probably use my iPad 2 the least, but I still use it almost daily. All of our media is on a NAS, but funneled to the Mac mini, which we use as the driver for the Apple TVs.

iPhone for obvious phone use: calls, texting, random things like tweeting.

MacBook Pro for most computer use at home (about 3 hours/day at home), then take it to school for schoolwork. Generally stays at home, except when I go to class twice a week. I'm planning on getting a MacBook Air for this purpose once my MBP stops.

iPad for playing games, reading, surfing the net, and mostly for when I'm out for the day, I take it with me almost every day. I use it in the car (I carpool a lot) and I usually take it to work and use it during my lunch break. The usage is only like 1-2 hours a day though.

For MOST of my reading, I use the Kindle because I prefer the e-ink, but occasionally use the iPad or iPhone, whichever suits me at the moment. I read every night for at least 30 min before bed.

I always have my iPhone and Kindle in my purse, and occasionally I'll have my iPad or MBP along depending on where I'm going. :)

I own all 3, I use them all.
I do neglect my Mac sometimes.. mainly if its late at night and I'm just reading articles or watching youtube videos. I tend to grab my iPad and just lay in bed or on the couch. :p

Pretty much my situation too ^ They weren't lying when they said web browsing on the iPad is better than web browsing on any other device in my opinion

My current stable includes...

27 inch iMac (2009 i5)
15 inch MacBook Pro (Apr 2010 i5)
iPhone 4S
iPad 2 Wi-Fi (About to be new iPad)
ATV

I tend to use each device for various situations. The iMac is my main machine where I do 75% of my work like photo editing, video editing, etc. The MacBook Pro is for when I'm going to be away from home for a while or where I might need to do some serious photo editing when out and about. Also the MacBook Pro comes in handy if I have to do any traveling for work or on personal trips. The iPhone 4S goes with me everywhere and is used a lot. The iPad I use mainly for consumption of digital content such as books (all the ebook apps) and magazines (Zinio). If I just want to sit back and watch TV I tend to keep the iPad handy for quick reference look ups or for social networks.

I don't really have a problem keeping everything synced up, especially with iCloud now, and I don't really ignore any product over another. If there is anything that gets "ignored" it's probably the MacBook Pro because I may not be doing any traveling or going out on photo excursions.

I've got an mbp 15" and an iPhone 4 that see daily use. I also have a 2nd gen iPod Touch, but since I got the iPhone, it doesn't see much use at all. Last time I turned it on, the low pixel density hurt my eyes a bit.

I have the new iPad coming, and I expect my laptop use to go down some, since I plan on using my iPad for light school days (about half of my week), but I'm not worried about not having a use for any of them.

I've been all Apple for some time now. Currently have a MBP Pro 2010, iMac 21 2011, iPhone 4s. I have my first iPad on the way.

I use my laptop mostly in the bedroom for websurfing and email. My desktop is for music production and music management, productivity. My iPad will mostly replace the laptop in the bedroom and for travel.

I'm just curious. How many of you own a mac, an iPhone , and an iPad?

How do you manage all 3 on one mac? And how do you use each of them? Do you find yourself neglecting your mac and just using the iPad? What is your experience?

I have a early 2011 13'' MBP and iPhone 4. I'm thinking about getting a refurb iPad 2.

Thanks

I have them all. The only thing I use my iMac for is photo editing. I would say in a couple years when the hard drives get bigger and the iPads can support higher level photo editing I will no longer have a use for a traditional PC.

Let see

iMac 27" for rendering, Xcode, raw files, ...
MBA 11" when I'm on the road, travel or need a smaller Mac
Mac Mini: my VPN gateway into my home
AirPort Extreme: my router

iPod Touch 4gen as my music box
iPad 1 from company with mail and calendar
iPad 2 for my private stuff
iPad 3 get shipped next Friday
iPhone 4 from company

Not counting my old MBP 17" my wife is now twitter on
Not counting my old iPhone 3G my little one use as game machine

I would like to have a MB Pro but no business case

I personally have:
  • MBA
  • iPhone 4
  • iPad (well sold the 2, waiting on 3rd gen)
  • TC + External HD

In the house we also have:
  • 27" iMac
  • ATV
  • AEBS + External HD
  • AE + Networked printer
  • 2 crappy toshiba computers
  • iPod Touch

Waiting on the new Apple TV as well.

The iMac is my partners, but I use it and the kids also use it. 2 of the kids have the Toshiba things. The AEBS acts as the base router and the other 2 are extenders. The HD on the AEBS holds all the movies and media files and Time Machine for the iMac. The AppleTV is Jailbroken and networks the kitchen TV. The lounge room TV is networked via the Airport Express, but it can't watch the external movies at the moment because TV Mobili went crap and kept popping up on the screen :/
The MBA I use almost every night. I miss the iPad for reading text books and bed surfing, and the iPhone is obvious. The TC has TM for my MBA and the external has my study stuff on it. Wasn't an issue syncing anything.

The only thing that isn't used... is the iPod touch. One of the kids asked for it for his birthday and they only use it as a timer... Weird, he's now asked for a nano for his birthday, yeah right!

In our home, we have: a mid-2011 iMac, 2009 MBP, 2 iPhone 4s', iPod touch, (had) an iPad 2, and ATV2.

They all work very well together. Used to have a Windows based laptop - but quickly got tired of it.

The iMac in the main powerhouse, and used for most of the larger projects like video and photo editing.

The MBP is older and used primarily by my 8 year old.

I will admit though, when we had our iPad, the iMac was neglected a bit. It's actually a nice change to be using it a lot more now. I opted for the desktop instead of the laptop because I can remain more focused when doing work on it in my home office.

I personally own a MBP, iPhone 4s, and iPad 2 (soon to be "gifted" to husband when new iPad arrives:)). In our household, we have 2 more MBP's and a MB as well as 4-5 iPod touches of various vintages. Also 2 iPhone 4's and another 4s. I used to buy a new MBP every year and give my kids revolving hand-me-down laptops but I find myself now upgrading the MBP every other year and buying the new iPad each year and handing those down as well. The MBP doesnt get as much heavy use with an iPad around. Final step will be to convince my husband to give up his PC laptop for a MacBook! I did install Parallels on my MBP this year to run Peachtree. Windows runs like a top on Parallels so I may have finally convinced him to move to the light side next time he upgrades! Oh, and I would love to own a MBA on my next computer upgrade due to forced hand-me-down.

I have a 2010 MBP an iPad 3 on order and soon an appleTV 3. Though I still like my droid phones since I can have a nice big 4.3" screen on them. I would also like a mac mini down the road when the new ones come out.

The Apple product eco-system works great together.. I had android tablets and phones and apple this and android that.. Apple everything works much better for me.. the only thing I miss from android phones was my LTE =(

hehe, I'm pretty insane with the Apple products. They ended up replacing all my Windows boxes and Windows Mobile devices. I have them all networked easily and have probably more experience with the innards of OSX then most Apple Genius's out there.

2 MBP 15"
Mac Pro Oct-core with quaddro graphics
2 iMacs
MBP 13"
3 Mac minis
2 iPhone 3GS
2 iPhone 4 (unlocked)
2 iPhone 4GS
2 iPad
1 iPad2
18TB RAID storage
and several display units for presentations.

Apple products are the easiest to network and also the most robust to do multiple functions so far. I've tried running Ubuntu but it just doesn't compare with the ease of use and sheer power at driving applications and the important things to get work done. I've got several instances of iTunes running between all the systems which can be synced over the air to the mobile devices. I've also got Exchange and other servers running so I can pretty much be anywhere in the world with an iPad and iPhone and get all of my data. The systems just work really well together. I used to have an MBA but I gave that to family. I also had iPods until the iPhone replaced them. OSX also works better with Android since I used to have about 4 Android based devices until I got sick of not having enough battery life or just having them function optimally.

Wow! You guys are awesome. Thanks for all the great info! Well I bit the bullet and I'm now typing from my iPad 2 :)
