Streaming prices for HBO are increasing for the third year in a row, with prices increasing by $1 to $2 per month depending on the plan.

The Basic with Ads plan is $1 more expensive at $10.99 per month, while the Standard plan is now $18.49 per month, a $1.50 increase. The Premium plan is $22.99 per month, up from $20.99 per month.

Yearly prices are also going up. The ad-free plan is $110 per year (up from $100), the Standard plan is $185 per year (up from $170), and the Premium plan is $230 per year (up from $210).

Price increases are effective immediately for new subscribers, and existing subscribers will see price hikes when their plans renew.

Warner Bros. Discovery previously increased the price of HBO Max in January 2023 and June 2024, back when the service was still called Max. Before all of the price increases, HBO Max had been priced at $14.99 per month for a Standard plan when it launched in 2020.

Along with the price increase, HBO Max is aggressively cracking down on password sharing. Starting in September, the streaming service began requiring a one-time code for logins from different locations, with users encouraged to pay $7.99 per month to add extra viewers.

HBO Max uses account information, IP address, device ID, and user activity to determine if accounts are used by people in more than one household.

Disney+, Hulu, and Netflix have all seen price increases this year.

Subscription world will come to an end. Everyone will get frustrated by the prices, changes in licensing.

This is madness
Studios made more with physical dvd.. the internet sadly killed it and they had to move with the times

I’m headed back to physical media + Apple TV purchases. The camel’s back was broken when I could no longer fully enjoy my TV/audio system in its full glory without paying $20+ a month for the premium plans they restricted 4K HDR to. It’s too bad Disney mostly puts out trash these days as they’re one of the few who don’t yet charge extra for full quality.

Definitely won’t be renewing. Not enough new on it anymore and it was already so expensive. People need to start walking away from all of these streaming services or they will just continue to raise rates and continue to offer less and less.

Billionaires got to billionaire. They figure you are used to everything getting more expensive with inflation and tariffs so why not get in on the price hikes and just get richer? You can never have too many billions after all.

Yeah, I just canceled it about 5 minutes ago. Not finding much to draw me in lately. My wife was at least watching Dr. Who but that went away anyway, so they can pound sand until they get something I want to watch.

I’d like to see organized boycotts where everyone drops NetFlix for April/May for example, HBO Feb/March, etc. That could really throw a, “spanner” in the works.

As most I only hold one at a time, dump and subscribe when the content becomes stale.

I signed up and three days later HBO removes CNN from their offerings and does nothing to give a partial refund at all. So they will take things away that you pay for and you have no recourse.

I found an app called CheapCharts. It does a decent job tracking the latest discounts on Apple TV. I've found a few favorites for $5 recently.

Damn. I pay 5 bucks for the equivalent of HBO Max here in Germany (WOW by Sky). I'd never pay that much for a streaming service.

I also hardly use it cuz all the WB movies I like, I will have already seen at the cinema by the time they come to the streaming service and I hardly watch any of their shows.
