On principle I won’t sign up for any streaming service that doesn’t integrate with Apple TV ‘Up Next’. That means no Netflix for me and no Max.

Unbelievable that Max would roll out a Vision Pro app for the tiny user community that will have before they’ve added basic functionality to their Apple TV app for a much larger community.

And I say this as someone who plans to buy the Vision Pro on release day!

Ok, turns out I was wrong about this. And therefore, well done Max for being forward thinking and being one of the first to support Vision Pro! :)
why would you want a 3rd party (Apple) app to curate and track your activities instead of the native app? I'd much rather manage my Netflix and Max activities in the native apps.

Expecting to see more streaming apps supporting Vision Pro in the coming months.

How to cuddle and kiss someone while watching a movie with this?.
If I have to scrub my eye I have pause and remove the "helmet".
Need 2 sets to watch a movie with my girlfriend.
Sorry, super niche device.

You know this is for the geeks that have no partner... 🙋‍♂️

If this thing runs iPadOS apps right out of the box, what’s there to “support”?

I can only speak from my experience with a Quest 3 but I certainly would ask for more than just a lazy adaption of the iOS iPad OS app running on a flat virtual screen / window. I would want an "emerging" experience with its own 360 view etc. otherwise I can just keep looking at my laptop

So that I can keep track of all the shows I’m watching in one place rather than have to open 3 or 4 different apps to check.

The Apple way: Apple TV turns on, glances at top of screen, “oh cool, there’s a new season of that show I like on Amazon Prime coming soon. Oh, and a new episode of that Hulu show has dropped, I’ll watch that now.”

The native app way: Apple TV turns on… “hmm, what to watch today?” Opens Disney+ app… “nothing in here to watch, no new episodes of the show I’m watching.” Exits Disney+ app. Opens Amazon Prime app… “nothing in here either, though looks like a new season of that show I like is coming soon, I should remember that.” Exits Amazon Prime app. Opens Max app… “nope, no new episodes to watch here.” Exits Max app. “Wait, did I already check Disney+? Yeah, I did I think. Ok what’s next?” Opens Hulu app… “ah good! There’s a new episode of a show I’m watching here… I’ll watch that now.”

Which of those sounds simplest and most intuitive to you?

Maybe they’ll finally release The Hobbit 48 FPS 3D. I know it wasn’t well received but I didn’t get to experience it and I’ve been wanting to all these years.

Yup. I'm in the same boat. Max with my AT&T plan, but no longer have 4K after HBO changed their tiers. Even if I subscribed to HBO via my DirecTV subscription, the Max app would still be the middle tier without 4K. Only way to get 4K now would be to directly subscribe to HBOMax for $19 a month. However, it's not even worth it. Went to the Max site and searched for 4K. Only about 20 movies in 4K were found--none of which I haven't seen or want to see again. 4K on HBOMax is a joke, not worth spending money on.
Wow I thought I was missing out on every movie and show being 4K. Thanks for the info.

Yeah it’s ridiculous especially when other streaming channels have 4K and Atmos included.

Somehow I thought I had 4k. I subscribe through my cable provider. It’s stupid but I’m not cancelling because I don’t get 4k.

Sounds like you're dealing with a lot of cognitive clutter. Perhaps you are better off with Apple telling you what to watch. When I turn on the TV, I know what I want to watch. I suppose it's similar to food - do you prefer to think of what you want to eat and seek it out, or do you prefer to watch a stream of commercials to have corporations tell you what you want to eat?

*uses the force* Ah yes! I sense a new episode of the show I'm watching just dropped on Hulu! I can go straight there, immediately, with confidence there'll be a new episode to watch. My life has become so much simpler since I mastered the art of the Jedi and cleared my mind of cognitive clutter. Apple's UI enhancements to aggregate multiple streaming apps into one UI are of no use to me anymore!
