thats better 🙂 the statue does sort of make it look cool, im more a background type of person though.. have everything in the distance and nothing up close. i still love it though 😀

I've done this on many occasions. All it takes is plenty of light so you have fast shutter speeds. Some of my best HDR's were handheld. All of the ones I have posted here are done without a proper tripod. The Austin skyline ones were resting on a railing and the Savannah ones were all handheld.
The pic below was done handheld. When doing touristy stuff, it's inconvenient to bust out the tripod. But stability is important. I find a place to rest my elbows on. This one I was leaning on the bridge that Gustav Eiffel supposedly made. Though I've had pics without any elbow support and it's usually the first shot that becomes blurry as I stabilize. The HDR ends up looking funky on the edges and on finer details.

Taken for an assignment at uni. I wanted to show the scale and detail of the Cathedral... I think I succeeded?
Well everyone is going to have their own opinion to if it "looks right". Personally I think it looks awful, sorry. The colors are not even reality and actually look inverted.
I would recommend first trying to shoot HDR and making it look realistic, so that you get a handle on the controls and what they do. Once you can do that, you can take more liberties with the tone mapping to fulfill a particular vision.
This is not meant as a put-down but rather just some honest criticism. It's just a first attempt we have all been there!

One option that I have done many times is to convert one RAW file to three TIFF files and process. The results are practically indistinguishable from three RAW's.

Scale and detail? Yes! But I feel like I am tipping over when I look at it... Slightly straighten it out so it is perfect. Looks great though!

Nope 350. Wish it was a 370z. The 370 wasn't announced until late last year. This 350z is a 2006.
