Time Machine to an external HDD would be the simplest option.

Take it to Apple. Have them replace the top case under warranty. If it happens again, sell it and buy a 2015.

Follow the first part of this advice, don't follow the second.

I am hopping Apple will do a recall on all 2016 - 2017 MBP in 2019. Keyboard replacement without charge. Maybe new design in 2018. I wonder whats the keyboard failure rate on those MBP which used by Apple engineers and Tim himself. I am sure they got free top-care replacement.

By then they can disqualify most users saying there is debris or wear and tear so owners fault/responsibility
