obviously he doesn't care about the enviornment, releasing all those toxins in a violent explosion of the inner workings of a G4. Violence and HazMat are not the solutions people!

Just kidding, but a unique sales pitch.

I dont think anyone should donate anything to this guy. Americans blowing up and destroying things just sounds bad to the rest of us people who share the world with you! He should get a job and save up like the rest of the folk! Sell the old mac to raise some funds maybe? This whole thing would have sounded better if he had offered to maybe raffle of his old mac instead of destroying it. As a mac user and a member here I'm sure people would agree that seeing a Mac blown up is the last thing anyone wants too see. I would rather the 25 cents or whatever was given to a charitable cause.
Call me crazy but if I can get $5,000 from putting a video on the internet instead of getting a part time job then I'm all for it. I guess I leave morals at the door and go for the cash.

Sort of overloaded on cybermorons this year, I'll donate when hell freezes over, he wins a Darwin Award, or they cremate this guy and place his ashes in the G4 before they blow it up.

Darwin Awards are for people who die for "survival of the fittest." He's not dying from this.

You guys are just jealous for him already making $1200+ for doing basically nothing. And you guys not thinking of it first.

He probably could have bought a G5 anyway - he just has the incentive to get one without any cost to him.

Which sort of sucks ...

And yes, I want him to off himself in blazing stupidity before I'll consider donating to his G5-shaped coffin.

its a great idea, and the fact that he's made over 1200 so far is ridiculous, but he is a bit greedy. in his "idea" page he says he wants a 23 inch display along with the g5, and if he needs $5000 then he's likely going for a dual 2.7. i think it specified a better video card too but "no ram upgrades." if he's a video editor then why no ram upgrades?

considering he's used to a g4, i think i'd rather get a dual 2.0 and dual 20" displays, plus some definite ram upgrades and hdd space. ah well.

This is at least the second person I've seen making lots of cash from a basic "need new computer, please donate" site on the internet. Makes me think I oughta give it a shot. :p But then, my QS02 is still running fast and fine, so I really don't need one. Student loans, on the other hand...

Why so angry?
Tired of the cyberbegging babies ... there's been a lot of them, and sometime it'll get as bad as the free iPod crap.

Of course every now and then they will pull a stunt like Ryan Meader (of MacOSRumors) and destroy the stuff you give them the day they get it, then turn around and ask people to send them another one.

Pay for my BMW, because I'm tired of driving a Ford...

Send them money if you think they deserve it, but personally I'd rather help somebody that suffers a tragedy and doesn't ask for any money.

Because with the 23" you can view 1080i content without having to scale it down.

If anyone wants to donate money to me for a $5000 D2x, I'll gladly DONATE one of my DSLR's to a high school journalism program, along with 50 hours of lessons in post-processing in photoshop, camera function, and digital darkroom techniques.

;) ;) ;)

This guy's a stooge.

When I got my first Apple, a Powerbook a year and a half ago, it didn't come with any Apple stickers. I asked on a Mac forum for someone to donate some so I could put one on my car and a guy that had some spares put some in an envelope and mailed them to me free of charge.
