You can still buy square trade!

I had my phone for 10 days before I cracked the screen.

I bought square trade insurance after I cracked the screen.
http://www.squaretrade.com/free you get 1 month free of protection

I waited 5 days and then filed a claim over the phone.

50$ deductible, I went to genius bar and had the phone replaced for $269. Squaretrade reimbursed me the $269-50 for deductible.

That's insurance fraud homie !

The iPhone has to be verified as working when you our chase AppleCare after the initial purchase.

Only hinge you can do is head to the apple store and plead your case. They might take pity on you but no guarantees.

The website says you must allow them to run a diagnostic if you don't take it to the Apple Store. However, in most cases the person on the phone just takes your money and adds the coverage.

The flat fee replacement is $269 and the AC+ plus deductible is Approx. $179.

So max out of pocket I can expect is 269? I hope that's the case.
You guys think they'll have any in stock for replacement?

The deductible is $79 if you have AppleCare plus.

He's factoring in the $100 that it costs in the first place. The advantage is that you can file two claims so if you break it twice you're out 100 + 80 + 80 = 260 / 2 = $130 per replaced phone.

ok so I was at the apple store and as you guys expected I had to pay the $269....the guy told me I could try and call apple and add AC+ over the phone and he wouldnt say anything but it might or might not work. Given the time I decided to just pay the $269. I purchased the phone on Amex so I expect to be reimbursed anyway for the full amount I paid for the phone ($507 - wasnt eligible for full upgrade) or at least the $269+tax.
