FYI I'm still having the same problem, here's my case...

On Friday 23 I installed an SSD to my 2011 iMac, I followed OWC instructions and everything was going as planned. I installed El Capitan OS then, everything was going smooth I thought, but then this stupid problem came. When I entered my iCloud account it was ok for a second, then a pop up appeared saying "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a problem with mymail@mymail.com. Open iCloud preferences to fix this problem."

Clicked iCloud Preferences and entered my correct password like ten times and nothing changed, when I go to System Preferences and iCloud Account details is greyed out and it asks again "Enter your password to continue using iCloud. Verify the Apple ID password for mymail@mail.com". Entered password and nothing, still the same.

I'm really tired now, I've been using Mac for 10 years now and I've never had an OS problem like this one. Is it a bug in El Capitan? A bug on iCloud? A problem with my account? Please help!!!

Shut down Mac overnight then restart the next morning. Worked for me, and you've nothing to lose.

I turn my devices always off and still have this issue. My iPhone was turned off for like 12 hours, last night. Didn't help. I think you had luck :) Maybe they're working on a solution.

I've had the same problem for days. Turning it off and on didn't help me either.

I have the same issue, well not an issue for me, every time I reboot the phone I have to put the password for my iCloud account again.
Not a very big issue as I don't reboot my phone that often :)

UPDATE: I was on the phone for almost an hour yesterday with Apple support and ended up doing the following: created a new system user (admin) and deleted the first one. I didn't need to move too much stuff because it was a clean install from the beginning. Entered my iCloud password on the new user and worked perfect. Apparently El Capitan is creating in some cases users with an iCloud bug, it was not a system bug, but a user-bug. This shouldn't happen but good thing I was able to use iCloud again. BTW this also happen on my macbook and just today it worked again, just had a lot of keychain problems, nothing major.

Has anyone found another solution? This is happening with both of my 6S's that are on 9.1.

Don't feel like restoring both phones.

So decided to call applecare. They were able to rectify the situation on both phones.

1. Go to Facetime and Messages. Make sure ONLY your apple id email address and cell phone number show up as ways you can be reached.

2. Toggle Messages off, then back on.

This resolved the issue on both of our 6S's.

Anyone get this resolved? This just started for me over the last two days and it's rather annoying every couple of minutes, never mind the battery drainer it becomes. If anyone has a solution that would be great. If it's an iCloud server side issue that would make sense.

I'm running iOS 9.1, iPhone 6s

This advice worked for me. Under FaceTime, I had another email address besides my Apple ID email address that was checked off. I removed that one, toggled messages on and off, restarted the phone, and for the first time it has not prompted me for Apple ID verification.

I had an iPad that wasn't updated since 9.0.1 and I updated it to 9.1 and haven't had an issues since. Odd.

After many painful hours I've figured it out.

You need to logout from all your devices and comps when this happens, then login with the iPhone first and then go into Siri Search. At this point you'll get a fresh iTunes login with blank username and password boxes in Siri Search, after login back in to all your devices.

This happens to me every-time I do a restore, changing your password every time is a bigger pain.

How have you fixed it? I have been to 11 shops Apple EE and car phone wearhouse they pushed a few buttons. But after a while rebooting the my new iPhone 6 the Apple ID verification window is back.
I have spoken to 4 Apple support people and they haven't been able to fix it.
I am seriously thinking of getting a Sony or a Samsung instead if I was sure it is only an Apple problem...

Spent some time a bit back with Apple tech support on this issue. Happened when I DFU reset my 6S+ .. 9.0.2 I think.
End result: changed @me to @icloud across my devices and all has been good. My original iCloud was via @me and had been changed to @icloud.
@me is still supported by some including within Apple however you should have received notice to migrate to @icloud a while back.

So I still have this issue. Seems others do too iOS 9.2 here.

I'm seeing it after I plug in to charge my 6S though. Seems to be only at this time.

I've hard reset.

I've now switched iMessage and FaceTime off and back on (which has been touted as a fix).

If that doesn't work I'll try logging out of iCloud then back in.

I'm stuck after that and may ring Apple.
