Pardon my ignorance, I did not understand your last sentence. :)

He's saying that people here get excited about the latest machine. Since MBP's are next in the refresh line, it's their turn for the limelight. It will indeed be interesting to see if Apple decides to drop the built-in SuperDuper this time, or if we'll have to wait a bit longer.

The 13" MBP uses technology that is 10 months old. As Apple generally don't change their pricing structure over the course of a product's life, it is presently slow, and overpriced. The MBA is only 4 months old, and is consequently much better value.

There will be an update to the MBP line very soon, likely within a month. When that happens, and the MBPs are using brand new technology at an appropriate price, you will be able to buy a 13" MBP that is far faster than the present 13" MBA for a lower price than the MBA, making it the better value choice.

If you don't buy for sleek design, buying a higher powered windows pc would be wiser $-performance wise. Also, if you buy a Macbook WITHOUT discrete graphics (i.e. 13'' MBP, or the MBA's), the battery performance is about the same as on the Mac side.

I would say wait for Macbook pros or get the MBA 2010 now ( go for highest end model, if your budget permits) :D
