Software for mouse

I had this problem after clearing my startup folders and I had to reinstall the software for my mouse

As Will says above.

I had this issue. Reinstalled OSX and pulled some settings back via migration assistant. (Not all)

My Rat 5 mouse install was broken in the transfer. Remove it from the system, reboot and reinstall. All good now.

PITA....

USB Mouse.

My (R.A.T. 7) is the culprit!!!
I've had it for years now... and it just now decided to screw with my Dock & Hot Corners...

Only my problem persists, but only while the (R.A.T. 7) is plugged in...

... When my (R.A.T. 7) is plugged in, neither my (bluetooth) Magic-Mouse or Trackpad engage my Dock or hot corners... I unplug the (R.A.T. 7)... and the others work just fine... Grrrrrrr!

I know I own way too many devices to move only one cursor... don't judge me!!!

Thanks!!!!

Dang, 2015 and this thread just saved me! I wouldn't have thought of just unplugging my mouse and plugging it back in and would have wasted a LOT more time on this!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!!

From my other thread about this:

Unplugging and replugging my wireless mouse fixed the problem... Who'da thunk it? Very weird... but anyway, issue (at least temporarily) resolved. Thanks.

I had the same issue, found this post and tried the same and it worked for me too. However, it did keep coming back and unplugging the mouse dongle and putting it back in started to sometimes work and sometimes not. I went and bought a new mouse in the end and haven't had the problem since..

I had the same problem! Figured it out;

If you have USB Overdrive installed and you have a mouse with a scroll wheel that allows you to use it with a downclick, be careful not to click and hold down while scrolling up/down. By default, USB Overdrive has a set command for this and it screws up the system and restricts you from even accessing the mission control via hot corners. This ONLY happens if you accidentaly (or purposely) press down on the scroll and try scrolling up/down.

The solution is to go into USB Overdrive and set these types of click to a command that DOES NOTHING.

I had this problem: the mouse had been laying on a very wet table due to roof leakage.

Also the track pad showed this issue. Initially was debugging Mac software (other user) and hardware (AHT). Clearly a defect mouse: when the mouse was disconnected, the track pad worked again, and when the mouse was replaced by another one, all worked fine again. Maybe the old mouse will work again when dry, and else...RIP. (beter this mouse then my Mac).

Thanks for this post, that indicated that this could also be a mouse problem!
