If you can create a publicly shareable link, you should be able to put the link inside the image tags and have it work like my example below.

Code:

If you have images on your Google Drive that you want to add to MR posts, then you'll need to share them, which makes them publicly accessible, then get their URL, then put that URL into the IMG tags that Weaselboy showed above.

Here's Google's info on how to share files and folders:
https://support.google.com/drive/answer/2494822

With the file shared, you should be able to get a URL for it. Expand the heading on that page "Share a link to the file". That URL is what you paste into the IMG tags.

I found that link by googling: google drive shared url

You can repeat the search and find more info.

The strange thing is that I have done that:

Picture is just X, but if you click the link it opens.
No "training" group here @mr?

Something odd about the way Google is sharing that URL does not seem to work with inline images here. I just downloaded the image and added it to your post for you and that seems to work fine.

Just download the image to your desktop, then drag and drop it into the forum post and the forum software will handle it for you. You can either display it as an attachment, or a thumbnail or full image.

Is there somewhere a guide "howto post to MR forums"?

Yep, nothing about posting images.
Because "image"-button on top of writing box opens an URL, I have always thought that you can't upload images inside MR forums "system". And everytime someone looks at your post, the image is retrieved from that URL at that time.

But now I understand that these images have "offline" copies inside MR forum system.
Are all images always offline?
Meaning if I change the file where the URL points, will the picture change in the post?

There are two ways to post images. You can use the image link button you mentioned and put a link in there like the imgur example I used, or you can just drag and drop the image into the post like I did with your post in the other thread. That uploads the image to MacRumors forum servers and stores it there.

When using the first linked method, yes if somebody were able to change the image at that URL, the new image would appear in the forum post here.
