Hello!
I wanted to install macOS X 10.3 Panther on my 366 MHz indigo iBook g3 clamshell with open firmware 4.1.7 using a .iso file from the internet archive and a 16gb usb 2.0 Mac OS Extended (Journaled) stick, but I keep getting the prohibitory symbol after a few seconds. I unmounted the usb stick before writing the .iso onto it, all via terminal. Does anybody have a tip or anything I can change?

Thanks in advance!

Pretty sure G3 iBook does not natively support USB booting.

Pretty sure that they do from personal experience installing Tiger onto iBook G3s via USB and just holding down the option key post-chime. :)

Here's a guide by Low End Mac for the clamshell models but this is for Tiger. If you're interested @applesince2001, there's a version of Tiger that can be obtained from the Mac Garden. It has been modified for clamshells and doesn't require any fiddling with OF.
