Dude. Here are the steps to get iOS 6 back on your device.

-Connect your iPhone 5 to the computer.
-Open iTunes
-Hold down the Power button for 3 seconds
-Without releasing the Power button, press the hold the Home button as well for 10 seconds.

-Now, Release the Power Button and keep holding the Home button.

Hold it down till iTunes notify you that Your device has been detected in Recovery Mode.

Release the home button.

And then your iPhone 5 will go into Recovery Mode and will install iOS 6 back to factory settings.

Dude. I tried this THREE times and I did successfully get back to 6.1.4. but WITHOUT all of my photos and texts, contacts were there. So its not getting back to the software, its doing so with all my stuff. For some reason it won't restore my backup i did before switching to ios7.

It's been a while since I've done this, but I think after a DFU restore you then do another regular restore and select the backup file.

If that's what you're doing, posting the exact steps you're taking and the exact messages you're seeing will lead to a solution more quickly.

Beta3 can be installed with the same work-around. I'm not so sure it's that Apple has ceased checking as much as it's that they've not closed the workaround people found. Which may be effectively the same thing, just nuanced.

I wouldn't call it a workaround, I think the IMEI check used to happen upon activating the iPhone after the installation and they just don't do that anymore. Maybe it's even willful - after all, what's the harm? More beta users = more feedback to Apple engineers.

Have never done what you just posted in the first paragraph. Will try now. I was previously just downgrading to 6.1.4. then restoring from backup...

As far as I know, IMEI was never checked. It was the UUID that had to be registered to activate the device. I believe that is still a requirement; but when doing the update it seems to bypass the activation portion.

Either way, I can imagine Apple might wish to establish a certain amount of "hurdle" to dissuade folks from installing the beta who might be better served sticking with public releases. No need to have people load it who then blame any issues they have on Apple.

The steps xlost6 listed constitute a DFU restore, so if you followed them like you said you've performed a DFU restore.

My bad, of course it's the UDID that is checked.
