2 gigs of ram
in my mind i imagine you typing this out on your ipad while running on your treadmillIt boils down to screen size. I don't understand why people treat them as "alternative to each other" when they are meant for different markets. Just like the regular 9.7 against the iPad Mini.
They are not interchangeable IMHO.
I'd say, if you feel comfortable with the screen size of the 12", then keep it. That's basically it. If it feels cumbersome at times and you wish it was smaller, go for the 9.7".
However as some mentioned... 32 GB is just too little nowadays, depends on your usage of course but I'd say anything less than 64 GB is too restrictive. It's not 16 but it's not at least 64 either.
And this is completely offtopic and I'm going to get up-close and personal but NEVER watch TV while on a treadmill. Watching TV while exercising and holding the treadmill are two of the worst things people can do while trying to exercise. Holding the treadmill defeats the purpose of using it as you are not running naturally (unless you run holding a bar at your side) and watching the TV doesn't allow your mind to focus on the routine and keep pushing for an effective workout, and also, could cause a neck injury as you're not running straight.

I was thinking the same thing... But after really using the 12.9 it makes it really hard to let go. Giant screen is gorgeous.32 GB is more than enough for an iPad for my uses at least. That being said I would get the 9.7.
Dang, sorry. I misread that. In any case with the elliptical, then not focusing enough applies.I use the elliptical. But I have run on the treadmill while wearing BT headphones. Or I've walked with a high elevation. But I rarely do treadmill anymore.
Then it's a keeper.after really using the 12.9 it makes it really hard to let go. Giant screen is gorgeous.

Im my case: After having a 4s for 4 years and during the last two or so holding my workmates phones with a big screen (but not past 5") I thought to myself the 6s+ was the way to go. Got it a month ago and I don't think I'd be able to go back to a phone with less than 5.5". Would feel silly. Unless it was a backup phone because of my daily driver being stolen of something like that.
In your case if you got used to the 12" screen and think it's amazing, then no point in going back to 9.7, even if you have the 32 GB model.
Also although I ordered the 9.7 Pro along with the pencil and I'm a hobbyist drawer I won't deny that the 12" is just much better for drawing, more real state to thinker with.
But in my case I went for 9.7" because I held the 12" in person and I thought it was too big for me, to be portable, and I need my tablet to be portable.
+1. If I had to make time for exercise and it feels too much like work, then I'm just not gonna do it. I reckon exercising while watching TV is still better than completely vegging out in front of the TV while eating junk food.Actually not focusing is what make it work for me. If I'm focusing on my breathing and how tired I am it gets in my head. Watching say Gotham distracts me from that.
Whatever you decide to get make yourself a favor and stay away from 32GB

Yes. And it's smaller, lighter too. Your point?
Just because it's smaller and lighter it doesn't mean it should have less RAM
I just got an open box 32gb Pro on Friday. I'm still getting used to it's size but I do love the large screen. Most likely I'll be keeping it vs returning and going with the 9.7 Pro. 32gb is a little constricting but considering the price we got them for I think it can be managed.
Go for the bigger! I have a 32GB mini and it's so constrained. My iMessages alone are eating up about 8GB![]()
I love the size of the screen... but hate the size of the tablet... it is very unwieldy... I wish I had some Dr Who TARDIS magic and had a 12.9 inch screen in a 10 inch body.![]()
I've narrowed my decision down to these two models. They are both within my budget. I currently have a 64gb Air 2 I am looking to sell on CL.
I was able to get an open item 32gb 12.9 model for $623 last week but now I'm kind of debating if I want more storage and some of the new features (the color gamut intrigues me) of the 9.7.
Usage on my 64gb Air 2 was generally around 25-36gb depending on what movies I had on it at the moment, but I rarely needed to manage it unless I shoved a bunch of HD movies on it.
I'd have to spend roughly $125 more for the new 9.7 Pro since there is no discount on it.
Please pick which you would do.
EDIT: My uses include taking it to the gym to use on the elliptical machine to watch TV, reading/surfing in bed and on the couch. Since I got the 12.9 I've also been drawing again. As a kid I wanted to be a comic book artist.
You can NEVER have too much memory. It also enhances resale value.
Yes. It is pretty much common knowledge that the higher capacity iPads don't keep their value (relative to their price as new) as the entry level models.I disagree on "enhancing resale" I've owned every iPad besides iPad 4, Air 1, Mini 3 & Mini 4 and My Air 2 and Mini 2 were both 64gb and the resale on them was terrible in comparison to the 16gb models. Higher percentage of loss. I mean they sold for more but hardly the $100 more I had spent.
Doesn't mean it should have more either.
The 12.9" version is 4GB and you see no issue with the 9.7" version with half the RAM?
Apple apologists never cease to amaze me
You are right. There are all those apps that run on the 12.9" that I won't be able to run on the 9.7"...
Oh, wait...
Too bad that's not why Apple halfed the RAM, it was to save pennies
