128gb 9.7 Pro or 32gb 12.9 Pro?

It boils down to screen size. I don't understand why people treat them as "alternative to each other" when they are meant for different markets. Just like the regular 9.7 against the iPad Mini.
They are not interchangeable IMHO.

I'd say, if you feel comfortable with the screen size of the 12", then keep it. That's basically it. If it feels cumbersome at times and you wish it was smaller, go for the 9.7".
However as some mentioned... 32 GB is just too little nowadays, depends on your usage of course but I'd say anything less than 64 GB is too restrictive. It's not 16 but it's not at least 64 either.

And this is completely offtopic and I'm going to get up-close and personal but NEVER watch TV while on a treadmill. Watching TV while exercising and holding the treadmill are two of the worst things people can do while trying to exercise. Holding the treadmill defeats the purpose of using it as you are not running naturally (unless you run holding a bar at your side) and watching the TV doesn't allow your mind to focus on the routine and keep pushing for an effective workout, and also, could cause a neck injury as you're not running straight.

I use the elliptical. But I have run on the treadmill while wearing BT headphones. Or I've walked with a high elevation. But I rarely do treadmill anymore.

32 GB is more than enough for an iPad for my uses at least. That being said I would get the 9.7.

I was thinking the same thing... But after really using the 12.9 it makes it really hard to let go. Giant screen is gorgeous.

128gb does seem like overkill too. 64gb would have been the sweet spot for me. Too bad. :(

Dang, sorry. I misread that. In any case with the elliptical, then not focusing enough applies.

Then it's a keeper.
Im my case: After having a 4s for 4 years and during the last two or so holding my workmates phones with a big screen (but not past 5") I thought to myself the 6s+ was the way to go. Got it a month ago and I don't think I'd be able to go back to a phone with less than 5.5". Would feel silly. Unless it was a backup phone because of my daily driver being stolen of something like that.

In your case if you got used to the 12" screen and think it's amazing, then no point in going back to 9.7, even if you have the 32 GB model.

Also although I ordered the 9.7 Pro along with the pencil and I'm a hobbyist drawer I won't deny that the 12" is just much better for drawing, more real state to thinker with.
But in my case I went for 9.7" because I held the 12" in person and I thought it was too big for me, to be portable, and I need my tablet to be portable.

Actually not focusing is what make it work for me. I know my HR due to my Apple Watch. And I've lost 17 lbs in the last 6 weeks And I wouldn't say I'm a huge guy.
If I'm focusing on my breathing and how tired I am it gets in my head. Watching say Gotham distracts me from that.

While I love the screen I hate the portability factor. It's big. A little too big... I did just swap out the Smart Cover from a cheap case and that at least makes it less heavy.

+1. If I had to make time for exercise and it feels too much like work, then I'm just not gonna do it. I reckon exercising while watching TV is still better than completely vegging out in front of the TV while eating junk food.

I purposely save TV shows to watch at the gym so I don't sit on my ass all day. Not allowing myself to see my favorite shows until I'm at the gym keeps me motivated to go back.

I just got an open box 32gb Pro on Friday. I'm still getting used to it's size but I do love the large screen. Most likely I'll be keeping it vs returning and going with the 9.7 Pro. 32gb is a little constricting but considering the price we got them for I think it can be managed.

Yeah. I didn't mention that on top of the discount I also had $290 in Rewards to spend on it. So the thing was like $469 altogether with a Pencil which was open item at $85.99. Killer deal.

I think I might end up keeping it, absolute worst case scenario; as long as I sell this thing for more than $401 (sans pencil), it is all profit... I'm having a hell of a time getting rid of my Air 2. So maybe I'll just keep both and use one at home and one at the gym.

Go for the bigger! I have a 32GB mini and it's so constrained. My iMessages alone are eating up about 8GB

You could just change the settings to delete after 30 days... you'll have a lot less stored... probably only use up 1gb tops.

I love the size of the screen... but hate the size of the tablet... it is very unwieldy... I wish I had some Dr Who TARDIS magic and had a 12.9 inch screen in a 10 inch body. :p
I've narrowed my decision down to these two models. They are both within my budget. I currently have a 64gb Air 2 I am looking to sell on CL.

I was able to get an open item 32gb 12.9 model for $623 last week but now I'm kind of debating if I want more storage and some of the new features (the color gamut intrigues me) of the 9.7.
Usage on my 64gb Air 2 was generally around 25-36gb depending on what movies I had on it at the moment, but I rarely needed to manage it unless I shoved a bunch of HD movies on it.

I'd have to spend roughly $125 more for the new 9.7 Pro since there is no discount on it.

Please pick which you would do.

EDIT: My uses include taking it to the gym to use on the elliptical machine to watch TV, reading/surfing in bed and on the couch. Since I got the 12.9 I've also been drawing again. As a kid I wanted to be a comic book artist.

You can NEVER have too much memory. It also enhances resale value.

I disagree on "enhancing resale" I've owned every iPad besides iPad 4, Air 1, Mini 3 & Mini 4 and My Air 2 and Mini 2 were both 64gb and the resale on them was terrible in comparison to the 16gb models. Higher percentage of loss. I mean they sold for more but hardly the $100 more I had spent.

Yes. It is pretty much common knowledge that the higher capacity iPads don't keep their value (relative to their price as new) as the entry level models.

Too bad that's not why Apple halfed the RAM, it was to save pennies

What does it matter? By the time 2gb of RAM is necessary most of us would be updating. It amazes me more that people like you only know how to look at specs rather than real world usage. I actually haven't seen much real world usage difference between my 12.9 and my Air 2. My 10th tab in safari refreshes...BFD.
