yeah still not sure how to transfer those apps yet , from memory banking apps dont swap over and still don’t know How to transfer WhatsApp or signal over as when I have tried to do it for family in the past all the chats have Been deleted
Signal takes time and you need both devices next to eachother to "move" data. Takes time.
Whatsapp is easier, a proper icloud backup should be fine.
Banking apps depends. But if you want to transfer Signal chats you must have the two devices and transfer data. There's specific, easy to follow instructions on Signal website.

Doing it all today may 9th backing up etc,
You’re doing it with your Mac right?
Keep it in case the new iPhone can’t transfer from the old iPhone.

Don’t reset it until everything is transferred successfully and everything is working fine

OP if you are still trying to decide: do not buy 16 Pro. It is less than half a year before October comes.

Unless you are in urge or your current phone is dying, do not buy 16 series and be patient to wait till 17. Also I would suggest to shoot for 17 Pro or new anticipated 17 Air if you are into thinness and such. Pro models have much better camera systems and also give you access to ProRAW format if you are into photography. And it is a big deal since regular RAW on new iPhones will output only 12 MP images while ProRAW can be shot in full 48 megapixels. Oh btw, 17 Pro will probably finally get 8K30 and 48MP telephoto lens

Got it. Make sure to use a lightning to usb adapter to plug the HD external drive into your iPhone! Or use a USB C hub with your Mac and drop it in there.

Lmk how it goes tomorrow! Good luck 🤞 with that

Quick Update
Just got home from the Apple Store and switched from iPhone XR to iPhone 16 pro max .
Have to say the Apple Store experience and staff were absolutely amazing and so friendly .

First impressions of the phone is that it’s definitely bigger then my old iPhone but also it doesn’t feel it in hand because of the OLED Screen and thin bezels .

So far so good , just got the long task now of making everything as I want I it etc and setting up apps that didn’t transfer over like banking etc

Wow, you did it! 🎉 Congrats on getting your new iPhone 16PM! I’m so excited for you! It’s such a big upgrade, especially since we’ve skipped a whole generation of iPhones over the past 6-7 years.

You know, getting an iPhone generations newer instead of every single year is like future-proofing yourself. If you tend to drop your phone or have to take it to the Genius Bar a lot, I highly recommend getting AppleCare+. I know I might think of it someday, but I rarely drop my phone or damage it, even though I’m a case collector. You can check out the prompt in the settings app or go to the Apple support app to learn more about AppleCare+.

Now, if you bought your iPhone from a third party like eBay or Amazon, you can get an Apple Genius to check it out if you never saw the AppleCare prompt in settings. I asked the Apple Store about it because a few iPhone users told me they got extended coverage beyond the usual 3 months. The manual addition of AppleCare requires you to own the iPhone for less than a year or if it gets damaged in any way and you bring it to the Apple Store for repair.

I only had my first Apple Watch Series 1 damaged with a screen separation and scratches, which is pretty much expected for an entry-level Apple Watch model that I owned for over 8 years. But with my current gold stainless steel Apple Watch Series 6, which I’ve had for a year now, I’ve kept it really good. There are no scratches on the watch face, it still looks really nice! I put it in a clear case once a week when I go to machining class on Tuesday afternoon to keep it intact.

That’s awesome that you got the deal on the lake green case and trade-in credit! They marked the case down 10%, right? By the way, I told the specialist the other day when I let go of my Apple Watch Series 1 for recycling and got a deal on the sport loop. Since I told him it was my birthday last weekend, he slipped in a half-off discount on the new strap.

Oh, and they did apply the Belkin screen protector on your iPhone, right?

Yeah 10 percent off accessories, and yes they set up the screen protector for me and did the sim swap for me so was really easy .
Also done the Apple care plus plan as it’s a new iPhone , latest model etc and thought as it’s a bigger phone I might not be used to it and so if I drop and break it I won’t have to spend hundreds on a repair.

Also been using the new camera control button none stop for photos and visual intelligence.
Will see long term if I keep using it but so far it seems so much easier and quicker to access the camera and take a photo

It’s great to hear that you’re doing well! By the way, is the sim an eSIM?

Now, since we’re thinking about Apple intelligence, which features would you use the most? I personally use visual intelligence, enhanced Siri, type to Siri, and writing tools quite a bit.

hello all been a while since I have posted on here .
iPhone 16 pro max going well , love the bigger screen size .
been using the belkin screen protector and Apple Original magsafe silicone case.
also been using a Goodmans MagSafe charge stand which is so easy to just place my phone on know that it will stay in place and charge .
not having buyers regret as I needed a new phone from my iPhone XR but the iPhone 17 does look good with the camera bar on the back or island whatever it will be called .
so overall still extremely happy .
