technology is disposable. apple especially promotes the use of their products for ~2 years max(i.e. software/apps that can only be used on the newest version making your current version obsolete). save your money and get a first gen.

You contradict yourself, or do I misinterpret?
iPad1 400$ for one year (1 year left out of two)
iPad2 500$ for two years
iPad 2 if you don't have any iPad.
Yep, agree w/both.the thinness doesn't seem like a lot but the reduced weight, form, and thinness together add up to a more easy time holding the device.
You save $40....
If 40$ is a significant amount to someone, I don't think they should be considering electronic gadgets like iPads.
Hi all,
Okay I'm finally gonna pull the trigger on an iPad tommorow after weeks of debating. Now my only decision is which one to get. I have a choice between the following:
iPad 1 32GB Wifi - $399 (from Verizon)
iPad 2 16GB Wifi - $499
I have an iPhone 4 and a Macbook and I'm planning on using my iPad mainly for browsing the internet on the couch, reading ebooks, and most importantly, accessing my home computers on the go using Logmein Ignition (Im studying from my CPA and need access to my study programs and don't feel like lugging my laptop everywhere). Also want to do some lite excel/work processing using Numbers and Pages. Would also like to tinker around with Garageband (although I have a Macbook with Garageband already).
I will not be using the iPad to take pictures but if I had the 2 I MIGHT use it for Facetime although I'm fine just using my iPhone for that (have Facetime on my Macbook too).
It seems that the iPad 1 would be fine for my needs but for some reason, I want the iPad 2 lol. I'm also a little worried that 16GB won't be enough room which also points to me getting the iPad 1. I've watched some comparison videos and although the iPad 2 looks faster, the ipad 1 seems fine for my needs.
I think I've just talked myself into the 1 while writing this post lol. Any reason I should reconsider? The main thing that worries me is future compatabliity with new iOS releases/features (in the next two years as I would probably upgrade after that).
I dont think you will be able to watch becker/rp videos off logmein. It lags quite a bit and sound prolly wont be synchronized
Yes this is probably what is holding me back from getting the 1. But.....as long as the 1 is future proof for the next 2 years (most likely iOS 5 & iOS 6) then I'm fine...
