I see you fell for that "freedom" crap with Android. You can't install app from the Apple App Store, so you have no freedom. This "closed wall ecosystem" is a marketing gimmick. That "closed" ecosystem still has more apps of a higher quality than Android. I've used both, so I have an idea here.

I prefer iPhone over Android. I have used the 3G, 3GS, and 4. I have also used the infuse 4G and Thrill 4G. All on AT&T. I have had a far better experience with iOS. As well as faster speeds and better battery. I like the customization I could do with android but a jailbroken iPhone I would still prefer. So I'd choose iPhone. Plus resale value is great so if you get bored sell it or trade outright for the next top of the line android phone I've done it multiple times.

I left the iPhone after the 3GS for the HTC Evo. Since I have not looked back due to the freedom I have with Android. I bought an iPad 2 on launch day and I totally LOVE IT. I then upgraded to the Evo 3D. I was sure I would never root it. I was happy with it, but me being me...I rooted it. Now I spend hours hunting roms and kernel combos for better speed/batt life, etc.
I came across an iphone 4 the other week. I have been using it as an iPod. I set it up basically the way I would have my phone. I totally cannot get over just how much more fluid iOS is to Android. Stuff just works. I hate the idea of not being able to mount it and use as mass storage or itunes to do everything even the smaller screen.
I am on Sprint right now. I decided I was going to port to Verizon this week. I was going to get the Galaxy Nexus. Now I am seriously considering getting the 4S.
Advise me without bias please...I'm about to be locked in for 2 years...I need to make the right decision.

I have a Nexus One, which I've used for nearly 2 years, and just bought an iPhone 4S. Both platforms have their strengths. Android is a lot more flexible, and having the wi-fi hotspot not require a special plan (at least on T-Mobile) is appealing. That said, with iOS, I can be reasonably assured that Apple will stand behind it (Google won't port Android 4.0 to the Nexus One). iOS is more smooth and polished, IMO, and I think it would be a good choice. OTOH, since the iPhone doesn't support LTE, as long as you are on Sprint or Verizon, Android would have an advantage. I think it's highly likely that next year's iPhone will support LTE, so maybe waiting would make sense.

Also, if you are looking for mass storage, consider downloading FileApp from the App Store and DiskAid. Although DiskAid is a paid application for Windows and Mac, it is relatively inexpensive and lets you use the iPhone for storage.

It will come down to priorities. Write down what you use most, and what you'd miss most, and then make a decision based on that.

Was on Android for a few years, but got tired of the constant bugs, erratic reboots and general lag on their phones, although I beleive a lot of it has to do with MOTOBLUR.

The 4S is great, EXCEPT - battery life and notifications. My Droid, Droid X and Droid 2 all had great battery life. Nothing compares to Android for notifications. I am a heavy business user with an exchange account sending / receiving 250+ emails per day, plus numorous texts and phone calls. I do not watch movies, facebook, or use siri, and i cannot get but halfway through the day. I need a phone that can go a solid 12 hours of up time, because many times when traveling I cannot recharge unless i have my power pack.

I think they both are good platforms, with each having their own pro's and con's.

Stay with Android - Please

please stick with android. that leaves more iPhones for the Apple fanboys.

Too late...bought the 4S.

Thanks for the app suggestion for mass storage...that's huge to me. Will try.

I started with android and then found myself with the iPad as my first iOS device I loved it so much I went with the iPhone 4 as my phone then I moved and AT&T sucked so I switched to Evo and rooted it and loved it but I always mIssed the simplicity of ios so I was estatic when sprint got the 4s so I switched back to iPhone

I tell you this..I didn't realize how terrible these company's are with data plan costs. My wife and I, on Sprint, shared 1500 on the everything plan. Our bill was about 140 a month.
With this iphone on VZW, with me getting the talk and text 900 with data, it's going to be 109 a month. WTF! Granted I get 22% off for work, but that's high as hell.

Any reason you didn't stick with Sprint, seeing as you went with the iPhone?

Because my coverage went from nice to horrible since Sept. I have called over and over. They continue to tell me a tower is down, but they wont fix it. I used to be able to sit in 4G all the time. Now my phone stays in 1X. Just horrible.

I can see how torn you are between iOS or android land. So ill make it ezier for you by avoiding any fanboy club of either side.

GO BUY a Windows Mango Phone :D
problem solved.

I was laying in bed the other day trying to browse while in bed... my wife was laying on me (pinning down my left arm) and I was trying to scroll one handed and I dropped the phone on her head. :p

Well, don't stop there: details, Man! :D

Since I'm a fanboy and restricted from commenting, perhaps you'd like to peruse Andy Ihnatko's reviews. You've already chosen the iPhone, and these articles may bolster your confidence in your decision. Although he's a longtime fan of Apple, he likes other platforms, too.
