If you have a decent Internet connection and speed, Skype should work great for you. I only have a landline because it comes free with me having internet and satellite cable with the same company. I only use it for incoming calls.

You don't need 3G or wifi with google voice. The google voice app works great. We just recently dropped our landline with google voice. Since we always had 1400 minute plan google voice numbers are on our a list.
