No...I close down Itunes (from task manager) and redid those setps you gave me to go in recovery mode again...saying stuff like "preparing Ipod for restore"...and "verifying ipod for restore"...and now back to waiting for ipod (earlier i went online for a few minutes...did not do this this time)

May I ask what a restore actually does?

It restores the phone to factory settings. Was your screen on the Touch black like the video when you let go of the sleep button? Did you watch the video?

Yeah it went black...weren't the steps you gave me the same (I saw the video)...and if I went to recovery mode in itunes, shouldn't that indicate that I did this correctly? If not what should have I seen in Itunes?

That's fine, just wanted to make sure the screen was black (DFU mode) vs. screen with usb logo (Recovery mode).

IDK what else to tell you. It should take it from there and restore. You may just have to bring it back to the store.
