so there is no way to cancel the upgrade???

Did you get the same error as you were initially talking about??

EDIT: Also looks like some of you boys owe me some money :) The harddrive cant be shot if it will let the OP attempt to install Leopard. In the mail boys in the mail lol :)

EDIT 2!!: Working from the picture and what you have said about the RAM installed (assuming it hasn't been changed since purchase) I have worked out it is an 06 Macbook either 1.83Ghz or the 2Ghz Core Duo one.

Now from that I went to crucial to see the RAM available for your machine. The RAM code matches up with the numbers you have given us. Crucial RAM The link is for the 2.0 Ghz model.

From there I am a bit stuck as I'm not 100% sure that RAM for a 1.83 is the same as for a 2.0. I have a sneaking suspicion it probably is but if one of the other members could confirm that would be good.

From there you could buy just the 512 module for a few quid. Take the other two RAM modules out, put new one in (carefully!!!) and try the same procedure as before to Erase & Install Leopard.

If it doesnt work then its only a few pound. I'm pretty sure its worth a try but input from the other members would be good to maybe sure up what I am saying!!

Ok, I missed the photo from post #21. So this is indeed a MacBook, not a PowerBook. So instead of a PMU reset, you needed an SMC reset, but this is the same procedure as a PMU reset for a PowerBook, so you are covered.

did failed again ;(...

Were you able to see the disk in Disk Utility (from the Leopard DVD)? If not, then the disk is fried, otherwise did you follow the steps to reformat the disk?

so there is no way to cancel the upgrade???

It all depends on my previous questions. You could be dealing with a bad disk or bad RAM. Did you happen to get the original Apple DVDs that came with the MacBook?

yup, both take the same type and size of RAM... same as current macbooks actually, just with smaller max

Good good, hope it works out for you (and I hope I'm right, there's money involved lol :) joking, honestly want it to work out good for you)

Anyway, BE CAREFUL putting in the RAM lol. I recently was involved in putting it in a Macbook the same as yours. Take both the units that are in it out as its impossible to tell which ones may be wrong. To do that is the easy part.

When you are slotting the new RAM back in you will find that it is pretty hard to fit back in, be patient and gently apply the pressure until they fit exactly like how the old ones were. It needs quite a bit of force but dont go full on it straight away, just gradually put on the pressure so you dont break anything.

After that, fingers crossed it will install ok!!!! Hope it works :)

i used to have this problem with it on my mbp. no matter how many times i reinstalled, i got that error. it seems to be happening with the original 10.5.0 disc that came out. i ended up burrowing my friends 10.5.1 disc and it worked perfectly. i will soon go back to apple to have them give me a new disc. i've been reading about all the 3rd party ram stuff and the different methods on why it wasnt compatible. none of them work. so to me it had to be the disc and sure enough it was. is there a way for u to figure out wat version of leopard disc that u have?

Got my new ram today i installed it and it WORKED!!!

i got the new lerpard instaled thanks all for the help!
it was my ram

i just replaced both the 256mb rams with 1gb
