Leaving aside that you referred to the young woman as "that", as if she were an inanimate object...just want to point out that OP is describing panic attacks.
"Work past the nerves" is really not helpful advice to someone trying to cope with panic attacks. It's not some case of the jitters, or "butterflies in the stomach"... it's a very troubling and difficult problem that requires a good deal of help to overcome.
I'm sure it was your intention to be encouraging to OP...just pointing out that the issue is not one that lends itself to a pull-yourself-up-by-the-bootstraps approach.
