I was the opposite. I was a B-C average at school but now am getting excellent marks at uni. I hated school

Quoted this and yg17 for truth.

I never understood why some kids in high school had panic attacks if their GPA dropped below 4.0

I did terrible in high school, and I still got into college. I'm doing okay in college, and I plan on going to grad school. I had a little below a C average in high school, and a 3.0 right now in college, but I didn't stress at all, and I am A LOT happier for it.

It depends on the school and the parents, from my experience. I was shocked the one term I made 3.0 in h.s. because I had other things happening. My overall GPA for university and multiple schools at that, is somewhere over 3.0 but the GPA just for the current school is somewhere above 3.7.

Obviously, you can do much about choosing the right school. One instructor you don't understand can really ruin everything. I've seen some instructors at the university level who shouldn't be instructing anyone and yet, the school needs a warm body to fill the position.

I'm not sure that students in the U.S. panic all that much, at least, compared to Asia. After all, few here would commit suicide over grades or refused admission to the right school.
