Having fewer cameras is a nice selling point, for me, of the air. I am generally only happy with photos from the 1x lens on my 15 Pro anyway, so I think losing the other cameras will be fine. Although, I have enjoyed the stereo speakers so losing that might feel like a downgrade.

What I don't get is that an extra GPU core is what supposedly makes A19 Pro, well, Pro.

So wouldn't an A19 Pro minus one GPU core be a regular A19?
Exactly. Apple is leading people to believe that there are 3 different chips for these devices. There’s only two. Only difference is that the Air has 12GB of RAM unlike the 17.

Ok, I can see that... for a secondary phone.
Nevertheless, too expensive.

iPhone16e; is 2 grams heavier (yes, the Air is a better phone, but still, as a secondary one...)
If I do have to carry 2 iPhones with me all the time, I think the Air will be my primary phone and use the Pro as my secondary phone.

I’ll likely use the Pro just for the camera.

I am kind of nervous with the iPhone Air purchase. I went with iPhone Air Sky Blue 256GB. I purchased 256, because on my current iPhone Pro I have used 77GB. I think I am ok with storage. The most I am worried is battery charge and it heating up all the time. I am running the iOS 26 developer beta and it is constantly getting hot. I am doing the annual trade in program with Apple. I am on my 4th trade in. Let see how it goes.
Your phone shouldn't constantly be getting hot, even on beta.

I don't see one single reason to get the Air... except being thin and being the same reason people get an Hermes Apple Watch; to show-off they have money; which, it doesn't make sense; but even with that, seems like a silly purchase. Maybe I'm missing something

I'd like to know, why people will get it, I'm very curious.
Preordered the air yesterday, cant wait! I just think it looks good and I always stuck to the base iphone cause pro was overkill and felt too heavy. Phones have been good enough for my needs since the Xs, it's just been overkill to me since then, so no idc about tiny spec decrease to have something that feels and looks nice

I'm not getting the Air for different reasons. None of these details listed matter much to me. I'm not trying to do any serious movie watching or gaming on a phone, so a single speaker is fine. I'm actually glad it's the forward-facing earpiece instead of the bottom speaker so that I'm always the one to hear my phone speaker the loudest, not the person next to me. As for the other details listed, I've already forgotten what they were, they mattered so little to me.

The Air would probably be the most appealing iPhone in the lineup to me if it wasn't for the camera. Camera is very important to me so I suffer the bulky Pro.

(Edit- if Apple made a Mini however, I would be willing to sacrifice even the camera to have a truly small one-handed phone. Maybe get myself a dedicated PaS to bring occasionally in a cross body fanny pack.)

No stereo speakers in 2025, a single camera, the shortest battery life out of all the new models, and costs more than the regular 17 which has stereo speakers, at least 2 cameras, and longer battery life. What the heck was Apple thinking with this one? Well, at least it’s using titanium so it won’t easily bend and break.

I guess the design philosophy for the Air was “One step forward and two steps back”.

Give it a cycle or 2 and the iPhone Air will be replaced with the Ultra version again.

If you observe what Apple has done with the front CenterStage camera it will probably bring that functionality to the rear cameras in the near future by holding the phone in portrait view and able to take pictures and video in landscape this will limit VVS (Vertical Video Syndrome) that has dominated smart phone since its introduction. The key here is to have a secure hold on the device while recording.

Hi, what if you had one chance to buy the first iteration of the future of your favorite tech company’s products. An opportunity to always know you were one of the first to embrace its revolutionary design because you were admittedly bored with the last 10 years of their supposed innovations. This year I could not buy the same pro models I have been lugging around the last 10 years. Maybe my photos will look like they were taken from an Inatamatic camera and my battery is dead by 9:15 am. I am a man of faith in every way and I would rather make this leap to the air and trust than keep rewarding sameness. That’s just me and I hope you all enjoy your phones.

Is the Air impressive for what it is? Yes.

I hope everyone getting an Air loves it. But the only benefits I see here are the extra ram, the slightly bigger display and the Pro processor.

These are excellent reasons for me, and the phone is lighter. Had the 16 coming from the 15 pro, and now I would like something lighter. Really miss my 13 mini but clearly most people aren’t into actually portable phones.

The only large phone I would purchase today is a fold.

Lighter, newer, cooler. People like change and some will accept the compromises because they don’t necessarily care about the missing extras and they can spend the money to get the different, cooler new phone.

Classic Apple Watch strategy.

Combine old components in a new case.

The S11 is just a S9. Which actually is an S6.

The audacity to sell the "S10" as an S11...is courageous to say the least.

Not even bothering to rebrand the S11 SoC, but just use the same packaging and replace S10 with S11 in WatchOS code. Its the ultimate cost saving move. Its genius.
Did you even bother to read the headline of the article?? It's about the iPhone air, but I'm sure your comments would have been almost identical

I would get the Air if it had the non Apple's custom C1X Modem which I remember last time they use the intel cell chip it was **** and I believe this will be the same as they did test with he 16e the chip comes no one closet to qualcomm X80 and X85

It's not even that light, same weight as base 17 basically
The Air is 12g and 7% lighter than base 17 which is smaller than the Air. Being lighter than a phone smaller than it is saying something, but a better comparison would be to one that's the same size. Since another 6.5" iPhone doesn't exist, we have to extrapolate how weight scales with size in other iPhones. So I calculate the Air is about 13% lighter than it would normally be. That's pretty significant. I wish I was 13% lighter.

I suspect they're some kind of bot or shill.
It is amazing to read all these negative comments when nobody has had their hands on this phone yet. Sure, it's not for everyone but there will be plenty people out there enjoying this iPhone Air. And I bet an even higher number than the membership # of MR... whatever, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Very interesting about the different Dynamic Island location. The iPhone 17/Pro’s faster charging requires a PD 3.2 charger, currently the only one on the market is the new dynamic 40/60w charger that Apple just started selling.

Unfortunately for me, the single speaker is the biggest dealbreaker on the Air. I hope that can be addressed on future revisions.

Coming to the air max next year
