Something tells me by March 2021 THIS will be a default option if not sooner when sales are NOT as high as expected. I somehow see these as something we all want yet when it comes down to it ... the price is such a big border of entry that like the HomePod it'll be frowned upon yet still be wanted within the next year.
XM3's are looking really nice right about now, XM4's as well - even if Spatial Audio is capable yet not something Apple will allow outside of their ecosystem devices.
