It’s disabled there. You have to set your region to America and Siri language to American English. They are holding these features hostage for Europe because they actually have privacy rules. Shame on Apple for doing this, after the very intelligence was trained on the UKs open web data without their permission and for no credit.

I have region and language set to American (English) and it doesn’t offer me the AI options. Looks like it also needs you to register an American address and credit card with the App Store.

So confused. Am in the UK but ios18.1 developer beta showed up so I downloaded and installed it. But it doesn’t have any APple intelligence features at all. I rebooted too🧐
Same

Wondering if a solution exists on this board.

Rebooted twice and wondering what the point was. Is it geo-tied to the USA do you think?

Been 12+ hours since I upgraded to Apple Intelligence, noticing some slowdowns here and there + battery drains, maybe it’s still optimizing.

Works fine for me on my M1 iPad here in the UK. Have you requested access and, once approved, remembered to actually turn it on in settings?

It's AI that is game-changing. People are complaining about Apple's delayed and so-far very limited and unimpressive implementation of it.
Looks more like malware to me. Takes up resources but is useless. This is the kind of stuff you want to turn off or uninstall. In any case it's hard to see this causing any kind of supercyle of iphone upgrades. Hopefully Apple has something else going besides "AI"

I'll be curious to see how well Siri actually "maintains context."

As I posted on another thread, not great:

Well I managed all of 3 contextual questions before I got “OK, I found this on the web…”:

Siri, what day is it?
> Monday
How long is it till Tuesday?
> It’s five and a half hours till Tuesday
And since last Tuesday?
> “OK, I found this on the web for Last Tuesday, check it out”

iPhone mirroring works in EU in 18.1
At the same time, in update description, it is stated that Apple Intelligence in EU wouldn’t be available right now. WTH?
Within EU, we can use all other AI services without any restrictions. What’s so special about Apple Intelligence. It is in fact ChatGPT under the skin and Open AI works in EU. Damn Apple!
When you listen to the WWDC presentation carefully, it is quite obvious, that the decision to postpone Apple AI outside the US has little to do with the spat between Apple and the EU. The models for languages other than English are likely not ready for prime time yet and will require much more work. It takes a lot of effort to fine tune the models for each language and even the mighty Apple does not have the resources to do it for many languages at the same time. There are some parallels with the rollout of translation models and speech detection models. Those were also released in a staged fashion.

How curious

I downloaded 18.1. It installed according to Settings, I've never known an update ask to be switched on before, is this a new thing?

It worked for me as well but I backed out because of a support document that implies there could be problems "Before updating your location, you must spend your store credit, cancel your subscriptions and get a payment method for your new country or region." - I was concerned about the implications of this

We have heat index warnings at the moment. So, I asked Siri, what is the closest city without a heat index warning. She found things for me on the web.

Yes, you are right. You should realy have a test device and a test account. I love to be on the front of technology. But I haven‘t a second iPhone 15 Pro.

Not that well for the moment.

People have forgotten but Siri was somewhat able to maintain context from day one. It barely does better now, more than ten years later, on that front.

People have also forgotten that at the time, Siri was shown looking for a "family friendly restaurant nearby", and being able to read reviews to identify such restaurant. It was never actually able to do it, but it definetely should be. There is nothing hard about looking at reviews around where the user is.

The rewrite tool is not really useful at this moment for long paragraphs. It has a length limit on the output for some reason.
Probably latency

Try selecting an article on the webpage and ask AI to rewrite it for you. It produces broken sentences.
Oh wow, it's as if it's a beta or something.
