Disappointingly getting major internet dropouts across all connected apps and Safari. This was a big problem in early betas that is back with a vengeance with this RC

I am just really hoping the fixed the notifications issue with the Mail app. They completely stopped working in 18.4 and I have switched to Spark for the time being. It’s utter madness these days.

Also - why can’t Apple update individual apps if there is something wrong with it? Why can’t they just push the update through the App Store instead of waiting until another iOS release? How inefficient is that?

Eager to see if 18.5 impacts battery life or introduces any new bugs…

Hopefully they have focused on fixing some of the many bugs plaguing iOS 18 & iPadOS 18, although who knows, maybe the fact that in a few months an overhauled version of the operating system is coming with a new UI means that they are already focused on that new UI and iOS 18 will stay more or less as it is.

People say it is fixed in iOS 18.4.1, plus it gets a lot of security fixes that are well worth it. Hurry up updating before 18.5 comes out!

Yeah, this worries me. That’s why I’m going to install 18.4.1 on all my devices and see how this 18.5 or successive updates turn out.

Listing a new WALLPAPER as a noteworthy change to a new software version is kind of a joke, in my opinion.
Yeah, but what else should Apple do? Lately I saw an ad for the magic eraser photo editing tool of Apples iOS.
And we all know it doesn't work - not at all comparable to what we see in Android phones.

I had already been on 18.4.1 and no luck. Downloading 18.5 now to see if that works!

I hoped, 18.5 is it finally, but I think it's still better to further stay on 17.7.2 for my daily driver... 🤔
sadly, this year I'll be skipping any/all IPADOS/IOS/WATCH/MAC updates and staying on the latest 1 year old release versions ... of course I'll miss out on new features, but I've gotten to a point where the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

too many issues/bug with too many "hope this release fixes it" ... software QA/QC is sub-par for a multi-trillion dollar company that both creates its own hardware and writes its own software to control that hardware

I should have stuck w/17 ... but I "had to have" the latest ... I'll learn ... eventually

Apple today seeded the release candidate version of iOS 18.5 to developers and public beta testers, giving us a look at the final version of the update that will be provided to the public next week.

With the release candidate, Apple provided release notes, so we have a more complete look at the new features that are included in the update, including those that weren't found during the beta testing period.

The update adds a new wallpaper that matches this year's Pride Apple Watch Band, along with a new parental alert when a child is able to bypass the Screen Time passcode. Apple also added support for carrier-provided satellite services on the iPhone 13, and a feature for using an iPhone to purchase content within the Apple TV app on a third-party device.

Should no bugs be found in the iOS 18.5 release candidate, we expect to see iOS 18.5 released next week alongside iPadOS 18.5 and macOS Sequoia 15.5.

Why can’t Apple release other wallpapers besides the pride ones. How many pride wallpapers do we need?

Does anyone still care? It is just another update. One of hundreds of updates I installed with only some useful features.
Safari thumbnails have been broken for me on multiple devices since 18.4, I care about this more than a whole OS upgrade. Hopefully it’s in the unlisted bug fixes.

edit: it's better across the board, seems fixed on iPad but I had at least one recurrence on iOS. At least they're trying, apparently.

This doesn't seem like a necessary update. Maybe 19 will be launched early and 🍸😸 will not have to even do this 18. whatever update?
