groundbreaking stuff, nobody asked for 'opaque material in apps' to begin with.

At this point I'm simply glad that Liquid Glass can be toned down to an acceptable level.

If this doesn't fix the sluggish UI on my MBP, I'm going to have to switch back to Windows for my portable computing needs.
It’s difficult to remain open minded after experiencing all the machinations with the various beta versions leading up to this upcoming release.

Yes it’s understandable as the project is a big one. Yet Apple is a big company with deep pockets and talented people.

Although I work and live in a cross platform macOS/ Windows - iOS/ iPadOS/ Android environment, and have a fully optimized ThinkPad as a choice, I do prefer Mac as my primary platform.

Only some time spent with this upcoming release will tell just how it actually performs in day to day use.

they were stuck so far up their own righteous a$$, it didn't even cross their mind to make this an option at launch (because they so listen to beta feedback). could have just made the whole vaseline effect optional instead, for those who like it unacceptable.

Liquid glass to tainted glass. Otherwise known as broken glass.
One can only imagine the Liquid Glass idea was born out of Apples obsession to appeal to kids, and the easily amused.

To draw them into the ecosystem capturing them as lifelong customers, a goal they've been very successful attaining.

In the meantime all the rest of the Cupertino companies customers are subject to the whims of the firms internal slogan "we know what the customer wants before they do".

The interesting and revealing fact is amongst otherwise intelligent people, a number of the ecosystems devotees agree and sing the company's praises. They cast aside independent critical thinking.

It's good to be Apple.

Have you peeked at Activity Monitor to see what is consuming CPU cycles?

Do things improve after a restart?

Tahoe is running like a charm on my M1 Air, except for the random "Ran out of System Memory" issue after sleep.

Liquid Glass is more than a transparency skin. Its ability to morph contextual controls is ingenious and makes using devices a delight.

Apple has provided plenty of customization options to address usability issues that people may have.

Just very glad I am still on Sequoia. Please keep us late-adopters informed of what works and what doesn't work. Thanks!
Apart from Contacts (whose shortcomings are addressed in another thread) everything works fine, and the tighter integration with iPhone (Journals, phone Calls) alone makes it better than Sequoia.

Improves after restart. I have to restart every 1-2 hours. Have M1Max MBP. Nothing showing on Activity Monitor that stands out.
