Explain the Titanium model to me like I'm 5. What is the purpose of this?
Basically, either to display wealth in a subtle way, or for aesthetics.

There is essentially no practical difference between any of the cases for typical users. Titanium is stronger and lighter than steel, but scratches more easily than stainless steel. It is resistant to saltwater and will not rust, which might be an issue for some people.

There is minimal cost difference between any of the materials in the quantities used here. The price difference is mainly to create scarcity.

I have had titanium items where weight and strength are important (eg it makes sense in a bicycle frame), but that is not the situation here. I find an aluminium watch with a non-Apple stainless steel band works well from a comfort and appearance perspective.

The strange one for me was the black stainless steel body. Very similar appearance to the black aluminium case.

I'm guessing that in the UK the $ will just be changed to a £ despite the small difference between the iPhone prices.
On a rough calculation based on the SS model. The UK prices seem to be slightly lower than US once VAT is removed

E.g. SS 45mm is £649 which is £540 before VAT. Converted this is $737 vs. $749 in the US

I'm feedup the Ti version keeps being available....
Impossible to resist damm!

I will forever hate Apple marketing for offering stainless steel only if you also fork out for the cellular option. Just a miserable forking money grab.

Yah, but it “takes a licking, and keeps on ticking!”

“someday all watches will be made this way”

Who in the heck puts $500 more for ceramic or stainless steel or titanium and yet at the same time too cheap to pay for $10 a month or $120 a year for cellular for the nice Apple Watch?

If I was Apple I would tell you it will cost you $620 more instead of $500 more, And then you can have it without cellular OK?

convert it all to Canadian dollars! See what you get then!

It’s not a watch, it’s a wrist computer that also tells the time.
It tracks my swimming and running. Shows weather. Does Oxygen saturation and heart rate. And ECG! And I find my iPhone with it almost daily! and I take some phone calls! And I open my garage door with it! And more!

I think that's the issue -- it becomes a $620 premium. I wouldn't mind paying an extra hundred for stainless but that's just insane...

If you are a rough and tumble guy who does real stuff, it can be good to go for the stronger watches. It used to be that stainless and titanium or ceramic would come with stronger sapphire glass cover as well.

I stopped getting the high end cases last year and instead tried aluminum, and it’s not badly scratched up or anything. So aluminum is fine for most of us.
The good thing about buying aluminium being that it’s so cheap that you don’t mind a few scratches.

I kind of baby my Apple products, so it will be refreshing to have this watch and just use & enjoy it, without worrying about it getting damaged.

This will be my first Apple Watch, so if it grows on me, I may think differently next year & go for one of the more expensive options.

I've never had an Apple Watch and I love the idea of titanium, but $800...don't know if I can do that.

And I feel like if I didn't get the cellular version, it would really be missing something. And for that price might as well go for it...

Well it’s a matter of opinion and personal choice.

I find $62.00 for popcorn, drinks and candies at the theatre to be a bit pricey too. I paid that today at the James Bond movie :).

you know.. I have never really understood what people have against a little scuff mark on the body. but okay. maybe someone is that rough and tumble where they significantly ding a piece of metal that is on their arm... couldn't you just buy 2 alums for the price of one titanium.. wear one for tumbling.. a different color for when you want to impress?

Yah. Agreed. I feel that way.
I guess you pay big bucks for ceramic or titanium and don’t have to do that - like it’s not much thinking required - get the loaded one maxed out and done kinda attitude.
