My wife really likes fancy cases with wallets in them, so she goes for Bandolier cases every time she upgrades her phone. They’re expensive, probably over $120 give or take but are high quality leather cases with shoulder straps and built-in wallet. To her, having a case like that makes an Air useless, so she is getting a 17 Pro sometime today.

Me, I always go caseless. I started going caseless with the iPhone 7 in jet black. Why have a case to hide a gorgeous phone? I actually ended that year with no visible scratches on that jet black exterior, though if you looked very closely, you could see micro scratches along the bottom edges. I wish I hadn’t traded in that phone. For me, I’m getting an Air today.

Not in this list but if you’re thinking about the QuadLock iPhone 17 Pro Max case:

Thank you for your recent iPhone 17 Pro Max order with us. We want to let you know about a potential issue we’ve identified through testing that may affect the camera control button on your case.

In some cases, the case button may press against your phone’s camera control button, which can interfere with camera use. The good news is we’re already working on a fix for this, which will be either a replacement button that can be swapped into your case, or a complete case replacement.

In the meantime, if you experience this issue, you can remove the button from the case by removing the case from your phone, and pushing this inwards.

Once the updated button or case is ready to be sent out, we’ll be in touch to confirm dispatch. We expect to have these to you in the next two months, depending on our end solution.

I’ve been sporting Pela cases the past several years and absolutely love them. Good coverage, impact resistant (includes a monetary guarantee), nice grip, and stylish.

lol. Slapping ugly cases on it and your orange and blue are gone.

I got a Spigen Ultra Hybrid T MagFit in matte black. Perfect match with silver 17 pro and great quality for €17. I don't understand why anyone would spend over $30 in a case maybe $50 if it's good quality leather. Apple is horrible value for accessories for years.

For my 15 Pro I tried many leather case alternatives. I ended up with Decoded which when it comes to quality and feel was the most similar to Apple's original leather cases. Unfortunately the Decoded colors are boring.

For those that want as close to a naked device feel as possible, or for those that don't like case bulk, I can't recommend Totallee enough. The case is insanely thin. No, it's not going to win a drop contest with an Otter box - that's not who this case is for. But if your a conscientious device owner that only needs the thinnest of barriers between their device and the surface upon which it sits, this case is killer. I discovered them around the X launch (can't recall) and has been the only case I've purchased since. 98% of the time, I do not use a case. When I do, this is the one I always have on standby (say, when going camping or something a bit more rugged.

That said, what I have discovered, and reeeeally like, is a snapback (I think it was called) from Atom Studios. I used these for my 15 and 16 Pros. They were acquired by Matter and they are my preferred protection option. Just a thin, rigid plank that connects to the back of your device via magSafe. That's it. No side protection, no front lip. Just the back. Snap it on, take it off. Super convenient.
