I mean, isn't that the best way to get top resale value when you sell it to the next person?
It's strange/funny though. Almost everyone uses cases on our big unergonimic phones these days so nobody actually enjoys the product design except MAYBE the very last person to own the phone. Phone manufacturers are kind of wasting a lot of time and money on making these "premium" phone designs since almost nobody actually experiences them. Might as well just make dull designs with the cheapest possible materials and make "premium" cases.

Arc Pulse is my favorite. It's expensive, but it looks like it belongs in an art gallery and I can still touch my phone.

It's not as protective as an Otter Box, but it looks and feels better.

Compared to no case at all, it's a great compromise if you're willing to pony up.

From a normal height, if you drop your phone onto a flat surface, it offers great protection.

You can also set your phone on a granite table face-up or face-down without worrying about scratching the display or camera lenses.

However, if you're big into hiking or mountain climbing (jagged rocks etc), then an Otter Box type case is better, even though it's ugly af and feels disappointing in your hand.

For those that want as close to a naked device feel as possible, or for those that don't like case bulk, I can't recommend Totallee enough. The case is insanely thin. No, it's not going to win a drop contest with an Otter box - that's not who this case is for. But if your a conscientious device owner that only needs the thinnest of barriers between their device and the surface upon which it sits, this case is killer. I discovered them around the X launch (can't recall) and has been the only case I've purchased since. 98% of the time, I do not use a case. When I do, this is the one I always have on standby (say, when going camping or something a bit more rugged.

That said, what I have discovered, and reeeeally like, is a snapback (I think it was called) from Atom Studios. I used these for my 15 and 16 Pros. They were acquired by Matter and they are my preferred protection option. Just a thin, rigid plank that connects to the back of your device via magSafe. That's it. No side protection, no front lip. Just the back. Snap it on, take it off. Super convenient.
If I still lived near an Apple Store I'd consider your Matter "Snap" recommendation. It seems like it'd be easy to keep with your keys by the door, so you could snap it on when you leave the house and take it off when you get home.

For a truly naked feel, the Arc Pulse is my favorite, but it's double the price.

I change my iPhone every year, I never wear a case, and my iPhones are always new when I resell them. Not even a single tiny scratch.

I never put anything other than the iPhone in my right pocket… it’s an iPocket :)
I never put it on a hard surface that could scratch it.
I am very careful when I take it and put it down

The phone doesn't magically scratch. It's the people who don't take care of them.

My black iPhone Air is completely naked and it looks amazing!

That’s usually how I roll too, but twice I’ve had friends drop my phone and crack it, so now I use a minimalist Arc Pulse case.

Also I’m traveling long term so I’m not near an Apple Store for quick and easy repair. 🍻

If I’m having a 3rd glass of wine with a friend who wants to borrow my phone I hand it over with as little concern as I would have over a Bic pen.
Thank you case.
