They should probably two version Touch and None-Touch screen if they are going to make one because, I hate touch screen, unless it is on iMac but still, this what the iPad Pro is used for, especially with all these accessories that almost turns it into a detachable High-end MacBook Air.

Apple said they would never release a touchscreen Mac. I agree with Apple's reasoning that a touchscreen Mac is awkward because you have to constantly lift your arms up to use it, but maybe this new MBP will fold over and work like a tablet or something similar.

Regardless this is a rumour, and at the very least I bet it will get delayed to 2027, or get cancelled. That is my guess.

I personally would love an iPad with MacOS as my daily driver. Use it as an iPad for casual use, and dock it for work.

Or... Everything gets delayed until 2027 and it gets announced with the new Apple TV, HomePod, and HomePad. 😉

I'm still waiting to buy the ATV and a HP mini. Tick tock...

Macs need to stay stale at the moment. With the RAM prices getting way out of control, placing a touch screen and OLED will price a lot more customers out.

This is no-brainer stuff, the real deal will be whether they can keep prices in place given the RAM and storage price rollercoaster.

Steve said No to touchscreen Macs.
Steve also said no to video iPods while actively developing a video iPod, E-Books while actively in talks with book publishers, and Mini iPads while actively developing one.
I’m not sure Steve comments from almost 2 decades ago exactly hold up in 2026 when the guy was known to contradict himself pretty much daily

Mhmm, my M1 Max MBP is getting long in the tooth (not due to the chip but because I picked a 512 GB SSD...) and I'd love to upgrade, especially with the M5 improving on AI capabilities. But at the same time if we get a proper Macbook redesign at the end of the year, I guess waiting another year or so for the M6 Pro/Max is going to be worth it.

I don't really understand the market for the low cost laptop at an MSRP of $599 when the M4 MacBook Air is for sale for $749 almost permanently at Amazon and Best Buy. This means the the M5 MacBook Air could be shortly regularly available at the same price, and the M4 MacBook Air could become available at $699 or $649 pernanently. The real price of the low cost MacBook would have to be under $500 to make sense in that situation.

Wouldn't mind going back to the G4 iMac with the moveable screen. That was pretty cool, and would make touchscreens a bit more ergonomic, IMO. I know it wouldn't happen, but I'd like to see the base contain M.2 SSD slots for additional storage. The Apple Silicon M# built-in SSDs could be for OS and apps, and the M.2 slots for user data. Unfortunately, that would mean people would just buy the smallest built-in SSDs and buy cheaper M.2 drives.

If they actually do a touchscreen, it will be a confirmation that they, as a company, have not only jumped the shark but also got lost in the sauce.

Even though Mac processors are fast,
even though Mac screens are vibrant,
even though Mac products excel in obvious areas...

...Apple products historically were known for offering excellent value in minor details and featured beautiful designs.

For example, in June 1981, Steve Jobs participated in weekly management meetings for the Apple II group, and an interesting conversation took place:

We started having weekly management meetings in June 1981, which were attended by most of the team, where we discussed the issues of the week. At the second or third meeting, Burrell presented an intricate blueprint of the PC board layout, which had already been used to build a few working prototypes, blown up to four times the actual size.

Steve started critiquing the layout on a purely esthetic basis. "That part's really pretty", he proclaimed. "But look at the memory chips. That's ugly. The lines are too close together".

George Crow, our recently hired analog engineer, interrupted Steve. "Who cares what the PC board looks like? The only thing that's important is how well that it works. Nobody is going to see the PC board."

Steve responded strongly. "I'm gonna see it! I want it to be as beautiful as possible, even if it's inside the box. A great carpenter isn't going to use lousy wood for the back of a cabinet, even though nobody's going to see it."

Sadly, most every MacRumors article you read these days, you'll only ever glimpse the headline figures: Speed, battery life, OLED!

It's been too long since the Apple Computer, Inc. days before 2007 when every detail mattered. While we're inundated up to our eyeballs with Speed, battery life, OLED!, the minor details and beautiful designs that made Apple products special are a thing of the past.

Would be great if the colors from the low cost MacBook is available for all the others too, at least one bright color would be great. Eagerly waiting to see whether the M6 MacBook Pro will have cellular support. Considering that there are rumors that it might even happen with M5 Pro, I have high hopes. Think a $200 hike across the board will definitely happen and cellular options might add an additional $200 more.

Very interested in the OLED MacBook Pro, I may eventually ditch the iPad Pro for it. Very happy to pay a premium for the touchscreen functionality.

I was still thinking M3 MBA was a Peak MBA... now I am starting to think MBA had not quite peaked... M4 24GB on sale or wait...?

Oh no, is the cellular rumor dead? :( I don't care about OLED or a touch screen, but GIMME LTE!!!!
Yeah I caught this too. OLED would be cool, but I already have OLED and 5G on my M4 iPad Pro. If the new MacBook Pro has OLED and not 5G then I'm just going to stick with my M3 MacBook Air until they finally add cellular. There is no reason why a MacBook Pro shouldn't have cellular at this point.

A holepunch camera is a really bad idea: a laptop is (mostly) for doing work on and you really don't want a stupid hole in your screen, getting in the way of part of the text, spreadsheet, image, etc that you are working on.

The notch isn't great, but it actually works reasonably sensibly in that it doesn't take up any of your work area, and the menus and status icons just flow around it reasonably well. (For similar reasons, I'm glad that my current phone has a notch design as well, I'm really not a fan of the so-called dynamic island at all!)

You have a phone with 5G data, connect to Mac with BT/Wifi or USB-C cable and you have your cellular Mac laptop not sure why another data plan is needed.
