I love winter, and would love to live where it actually snows in the winter. (Already making plans for Canada. :D)

Does it snow anywhere in Texas?
In So. Cal. I can get to the beach in 10 min, snow in 1.5 hours. It's great though I can't wait to move.

That's more like it! :D

I should have took a picture while at work last weekend...

23am, do houses in Stockholm really look like that? They look like New England/American colonials!

Well, there are many types of houses, but the residental houses built after 2000 looks like this, yes. :]

Man I miss the snow. Here in Texas, used to love it when I lived in MA. At least until Christmas. After about 2 months of it was getting old though, dont miss the dirty look after the plows and dirt throwers though. Now that I live here in Texas 85 degrees on Christmas just isnt the same. About all we get here is an occasional ice storm which completely shuts down the city. Kind of funny actually, I just drive by all these folks sliding all over the streets and chuckle.

Where do you live in Texas? Down here, it's about 80 degrees, I say it's about time it started to feel like November!:D

Having been in New Zealand for the past year, I'm heading into my second summer Christmas. :( I never realized how much I would miss snow, considering how much of a pain in the ass it was when I had to trudge through it on my way to work in NYC.

I could totally get into the subtropical weather around Auckland and northwards, but a warm Christmas is just not something I could deal with every year.

it's finally really snowing in munich proper! before it was just snowing where i work near the alps.

these are from yesterday, a tree in my courtyard, my street and the tv tower in the olympic park

The snow pics are beautiful and therapeutic for those of us who don't get to see it, but from afar. Thanks. ;)

Sheffield had some snow tonight which is bloody marvelous. No pictures because it didn't settle but am hoping this is a sign of the winter to come.

Mean while my girlfriend is in Barbados.

My real question is: Why are you not there with her???

That could be the single in me speaking - because I know with my ex - I let her run off on a couple vacations b/c I had work. ... Wait, could that be why I'm single?

Better hop on a plane ASAP.

Not there with her because it is middle of the term at Uni in my fourth year so can't just go to Barbados. It wasn't really planned she had to step in for someone who was ill. And I trust her implicitly, 5 years going strong.

Now the first snow is falling here in Sweden! :D It's mixed up with rain but stays at the street for some minutes, making the roads wet and slippery.
2'th of November.. Strange, the last year we hadn't snow before the middle of December..
Wow, I figured it would snow a lot earlier in Sweden (land of my ancestors) than it would in Colorado. It snowed here in mid October.

5 years? Oh, you're set. I only had 4. ;) In all truth, I blew it by being a (#*$. Its in the past, and lesson learned, now just need to actually "socialize" but don't like doing that as much as I used to. (read: old)

Change subject: I love the look of snow during and right after a storm, it makes everything seem so close, and it's always so bright at night when snowing. The way trees and branches make "tunnels" around your home, and on the roads, and everything gets secluded behind hills and snow drifts. And DRIVING on snowy roads can be a blast when no traffic is out. I won't go into detail, but I'm SURE a few of you Northerners understand. ;)

Then 30 seconds later a sand / salt truck goes by, and it all goes to (#*$. Then the plow pushes the dirt-colored slush and snow up onto banks and everywhere. And I don't like it so much. Especially when that heavy, dirty stuff freezes into a solid chunk o' can't get to work on time because my car can't clear it and I can't shovel it.

My only "real" gripe with winter - is the 10 seconds of daylight we get this time of year. I love sunlight, and can't stand waking up for work with everything dark, only to get out of work, and have it be dark. Really sucks after a few weeks.

And no, I'm not bipolar, the winter solstice just does that to me.
