I just got off the phone with someone high up in Apple Apps technical support. We figured out the problem of those of us who have iLife 11, but have them on disks, instead of off the Mac App store. In my case, I have a 2011 27 inch iMac mid-May version which came with iLife 11 installed on the machine and came with the disks. When I tried to update, no updates showed up, like everyone else. After going over all this with the Apple technical support, who said I am eligible, he said there must be a glitch in the system. We found a way to get it to update.

Here are the directions on what to do.

1.Go to system preferences. 2.Open up User and Groups. 3.Unlock the lock. 4. Press Plus sign. 5.Create a new account and put TEST in the Full Name area. Change new account to an Administrator. Don't put anything else in. Hit Create User. 6. Log out of your account and then log in to the new TEST account. 7. Go to software update where the Apple is on the top left. You will now see iPhoto and iMovie. 8.You have to install Garageband separately and it does install separately then older Garageband. You can keep both installed. 8. Log out of the TEST account and log into your account. Delete the TEST account, and you are all done. Now you will have all new installed.

Good luck.

Any questions, just ask. This is for Mavericks only.

This also works for those who got iWork from a disk! Thanks for sharing!

It won't update over the previous iWork icons, but it will install the new ones!

This is a Mavericks issue for Mavericks versions of these Apple apps. This solution works wonders I only wished I read it before I bought a copy of the new Pages.

Thank you so much! :D

Didn't work for me.

Same for me here. I created a new admin account, logged out and logged in into the new account, went to the MAS for checking updates but still nothing available. All the apps are still shown as paid apps.

I assume I did something wrong or missed something important.

Did you sign in with your Apple ID and go to the Updates tab?

Thank you for this, couldn't update iWork apps but now everything is downloading fine.

You left out a very important step in this process.

When you re-boot it will ask you for an Apple ID and password.

Didn't work for me but I expected it not to since I originally started with the iLife family pack as a download back in 2009.

Go to apple logo, the software update

I tried that as well. I'm gonna make another new admin account and try it again. Someone in another thread said you have to make sure all the apps are in the same folder. How do i check if they are? Maybe that's why I don't get any updates?!

Another good thing is after doing this it now shows up under purchases tab in Mas, i just installed it on my mac air without having to repeat the steps over :):)
